Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to support our water and wastewater operations in Forsyth County. This role is responsible for driving EHS compliance, reducing risk, delivering training, and fostering a strong safety culture across multiple project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support environmental, health, and safety programs at assigned facilities.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and reporting requirements.
• Deliver EHS and DOT training programs for employees and contractors.
• Support workers’ compensation, insurance, and incident management programs.
• Maintain EHS records, systems, and training documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-7 years of EHS or safety management experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
• Experience developing SOPs, conducting training, and managing compliance programs.
• Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CSP, ASP, or similar certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel regularly to project sites.
• Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
