TheSecurity Manager oversees organizational security operations and emergency preparedness activities. S/he is responsible for minimizing organizational risk and promoting a safe, secure, and compliant environment for patients, visitors, volunteers, vendors, and staff across all Community Hospice & Palliative Care locations.
Position Details
- Work Location:Â Community Hospice and Palliative Care main location, 4266 Sunbeam Road Jacksonville FL
- Days/Hours:Â Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; Weekends and evenings as neededÂ
- Compensation:Â $75,000 - $80,000 annual with experience; full benefits package including 23 days annual PTO
Job ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Provides direct supervision of security personnel across multiple locations, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, coaching, time and attendance management, cross-training, and professional development.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational safety, security, and operational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates and promotes exceptional customer service and positive guest relations with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff.
- Maintains security staffing schedules, coordinates contract personnel as needed, serves as emergency backup coverage, and participates in on-call responsibilities.
- Administers the organization's access control and identification programs, including employee badging, photo identification, credential management, and visitor/vendor access controls.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with local emergency response agencies, including law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency management, and public health officials, to support organizational security, emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
- Serves as a subject matter resource to organizational leadership, committees, and external stakeholders regarding security, emergency preparedness, insurance, and risk management matters.
- Ensures security and emergency equipment, including surveillance systems, access controls, alarms, and related technologies, are operational through routine inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair.
- Oversee security patrol operations, electronic logging systems, incident investigations, documentation, reporting, and follow-up activities across multiple facilities.
- Coordinates and delivers required security and safety training programs, including active shooter preparedness, de-escalation techniques, workplace violence prevention, and new employee orientation content.
- Compiles reports and facilitates Safety and Security Risk Committee meetings.
- Provides assigned on-site security coverage and operational support for designated facilities and departments.
- Maintains compliance with applicable federal, state, local, accreditation, and organizational requirements related to security, emergency preparedness, fleet safety, and insurance risk management programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Emergency Preparedness Responsibilities
- Serves as the organization's Emergency Manager, advising Executive Leadership on disaster-related issues and acting as liaison to state emergency management agencies, including maintaining the AHCA Emergency Status System (ESS) during activations.
- Leads the development, implementation, maintenance, and annual review of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Program, including policy development, risk and vulnerability assessments, departmental operational planning, governance reporting, committee presentations, Board approvals, and performance measurement.
- Leads the development, implementation, maintenance, and regulatory oversight of all Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans (CEMP) for hospice, home health, PACE, and affiliated organizations. Ensures compliance with AHCA, CMS, Department of Health, and other applicable requirements through annual plan reviews, hazard vulnerability assessments, continuity of operations planning, communication planning, training and exercise programs, regulatory submissions, and agency approvals
- Collaborates with community agencies, Emergency Operations Centers, Departments of Health, and Special Needs Committees to support emergency preparedness initiatives and Special Needs planning across service areas.
- Develops and delivers required emergency preparedness training and education programs to ensure organizational readiness and regulatory compliance.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as outlined in the “Community Hospice Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan” and the Security Procedures Manual.
- Provides courtesy escort service for visitors and staff to their vehicles when necessary.
- Assists clinical staff on patient falls or with combative patients.
- Prepares and submits operational, incident, and administrative reports as required.
- Perform duties during times of emergency and activations of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. Â
- Overnight stay may be required.Â
Knowledge and Critical Skills Needed
- Knowledge of security operations, access control systems, video surveillance systems, alarm systems, emergency preparedness programs, and physical security best practices.
- Knowledge of NFPA fire and life safety regulations, AHCA and CMS emergency preparedness requirements, and applicable healthcare safety regulations.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and apply business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, policies, procedures, presentations, and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, leadership, committees, regulatory agencies, external partners, and the public.
- Strong organizational, planning, budgeting, and project management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, community partners, regulatory agencies, and emergency response organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to make sound decisions during emergencies and high-pressure situations.
- Ability to resolve conflicts professionally and effectively while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Ability to assess risks, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to develop consensus and collaborate effectively with clinical, operational, and executive leadership teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other business software applications.
- Ability to calculate and apply basic mathematical concepts, including percentages, ratios, budget development, and operational metrics.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain emergency management, business continuity, and operational response plans.
ExperienceÂ
- Supervisory experience, two (2) years (minimum)
- Minimum of two (2) years previous experience in security
Education & Licenses/CertificationsÂ
- State of Florida Class “D”/Unarmed Security Guard License preferred
- State of Florida driver’s license with driving record acceptable to Community Hospice insurance carrier, and reliable transportation
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
