About the Role
At Boots, we are reimagining retail for the customers and colleagues who rely on us every day. As Head of Product – Retail eCommerce, you will set the product vision, strategy and roadmap for our retail digital journeys across Boots.com and assisted in-store channels, helping to create simple, connected and trusted experiences that make shopping with Boots easier, more personal and more inspiring.
This is a pivotal Head of Product role within our digital transformation. You will lead the move to a more customer-led, product-led and data-led way of working, bringing clarity to priorities, strengthening agile delivery, and shaping a multi-year re-platforming programme that will enable our next generation of eCommerce and omnichannel capability.
You will be accountable for end-to-end customer and colleague journeys, from browse and discovery through to purchase, fulfilment and post-order support. Working closely with technology, design, data, commercial, marketing, stores and supply chain teams, you will ensure our digital products are commercially effective, operationally scalable and grounded in genuine customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead the product strategy, vision and roadmap for Boots’ retail eCommerce journeys across digital and omnichannel touchpoints.
- Lead, coach and develop a team made up of Product Leads, Product Managers and Product Owners, creating clear outcomes, strong delivery discipline and a high-performing product culture. This role does not have more senior product roles reporting into it.
- Partner with Technology and Architecture to shape and deliver the re-platforming of our digital commerce stack, ensuring product decisions support future growth, resilience, flexibility and innovation.
- Champion a customer-first, data-informed and hypothesis-driven approach, using insight, experimentation and performance data to make better product decisions.
- Drive the shift from project-led delivery to a product-led operating model, embedding OKRs, outcome ownership and continuous improvement across teams.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across digital, stores, marketing, supply chain, trading, operations and technology, ensuring the roadmap is aligned to customer, commercial and business priorities.
- Lead omnichannel product thinking across journeys such as click and collect, home delivery, assisted selling, in-store digital tools and colleague-facing experiences.
- Monitor the performance and health of digital journeys through KPIs, customer feedback and operational insight, identifying opportunities to optimise and improve at pace.
- Act as a senior product thought partner within the wider Digital, Commercial and Technology leadership teams, helping shape Boots’ broader digital transformation agenda.
What you’ll need to have (our must haves)
- Proven experience in a Head of Product role, or equivalent senior product leadership position, ideally within retail, eCommerce or omnichannel environments.
- Strong understanding of eCommerce platforms, digital trading, customer journeys and omnichannel fulfilment, with the ability to connect commercial priorities with technology and operational realities.
- A track record of leading product teams through complex digital change, including platform transformation, operating model evolution and agile delivery at scale.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset, balancing long-term product vision with immediate business priorities, customer needs and operational constraints.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to empower Product Leads, Product Managers and Product Owners while creating clarity, accountability and momentum.
- Strong customer and data orientation, with experience using product metrics, experimentation, research and insight to guide decisions and measure outcomes.
- Confidence operating in a complex, matrixed organisation, influencing across commercial, digital, technology, operations and executive stakeholder groups
Where your brilliance can take you
In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape a major digital transformation at Boots, influencing how customers experience our services across multiple channels.
