This role is accountable for maintaining a strong financial control environment, ensuring the integrity of statutory and regulatory reporting, overseeing tax, capital and safeguarding obligations, and providing clear financial leadership to local boards, senior management and Group Finance.
The role combines executive-level finance leadership with significant regulated responsibilities and requires strong judgement, credibility with regulators, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
The Head of Finance fosters ethical and responsible decision making and robust management and corporate governance practices and will look to set benchmark best practices across the EMEA region.
The Head of Finance is also responsible for reporting accurate financial information in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (โGAAPโ) and more generally for Coinbase EMEA entities' financial condition.
The Head of Finance will be responsible for the companies' economic and financial forecasting and will have a dotted line to the Chief Executive Officer of Coinbase Ireland (โCEOโ) whilst holding a direct reporting line into Group Finance.
This person will be the designated senior executive responsible for overseeing and ensuring the firm's compliance with regulatory safeguarding rules, which ensure customer funds are properly protected.
We are looking for a candidate who has a positive attitude and is highly motivated to learn and grow within the organization, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast paced multi-task oriented environment. This position will play a crucial role in meeting our regulatory, financial and tax reporting obligations. You will work and collaborate closely with many stakeholders across the organization, including regulatory compliance, finance, and data, tax, treasury and operations.
This role is a pre-approval controlled function (โPCFโ) as defined in Section 21 of the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010: PCF-11 Head of Finance and PCF-56 Safeguarding. All PCF candidates must satisfy Fitness and Probity requirements as specified by Coinbase Ireland and the Central Client before they can be formally appointed to the role.
What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):
โ Execution of Month end, Quarter end and year end close process.
โ Liaise with external auditor on annual financial statement close process.
โ Ensure Coinbase Ireland Limited continues to satisfy all ongoing capital requirements.
โ Maintain adequate arrangements to safeguard customer funds in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
โ Oversee the day-to-day financial and accounting affairs of the entity, including support to Group Finance where required.
โ Communicate regularly with Boards and senior management on material financial and accounting matters, ensuring they receive the information required to discharge their statutory and governance responsibilities.
โ Maintain proper books and records so that transactions are accurately recorded, the financial position of the entities can be determined with reasonable accuracy, and financial statements are audit-ready and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
โ Ensure financial reports are prepared accurately, efficiently, and submitted within required regulatory deadlines.
โ Maintain awareness of evolving standards of conduct, financial requirements, and compliance expectations through engagement with the business and relevant external sources.
โ Act as the designated senior executive responsible for overseeing compliance with safeguarding rules designed to ensure customer funds are properly protected.
Skills: What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
โ A professional finance qualification, and membership of a recognised professional body, is a prerequisite (ACA, GCA, CMA, ACCA, or CPA with experience in senior management)
โ 10+ years of experience in a finance role within a regulated financial services business
โ Current or previous PCF-11, PCF-56 Central Client ('CBI') approved person would be an advantage
โ Current or previous experience working with the CBI
โ Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with an emphasis on senior management and a track record of performing in a management role.
โ Excellent oral and written communication.
โ Track record of building strong relationships with boards, senior management and regulators
โ Capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards and effective time management
โ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment within a high growth business
Nice to haves:
โ Experience in crypto industry
โ ERP systems experience, preferably in NetSuite
โ Experience with Coupa, Databricks, Snowflake, FloQast and Jira
โ High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
