At Verston, our ambition is bold: to grow from an Estonian success story into a leading European infrastructure company shaping sustainable mobility and communities.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Group Controlling to give management a clear view of how Verston is performing and where the business is heading. You will bring controlling information from all group companies into one reliable picture and own budgeting and reporting. You will identify early when a project or company deviates from plan and, together with business leaders, help improve margins and strengthen cash flow forecasting.

You will report to and work closely with Group CFOIndrek Kaldoja as his strategic partner in controlling matters and be an influential member of the Group Management Team. You will lead the Group Controlling function, working closely with the group companies CEOs, CFO, and business leaders across our international operations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Building a consistent controlling framework across all Group companies, ensuring reliable financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Supporting business growth by strengthening cross-functional collaboration, developing team competencies, and improving employee experience through effective processes, leadership, and the smart use of technology.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve margins in bidding, project execution, and purchasing, and working with business leaders to turn findings into measurable improvements.
  • Monitoring project margins, cost-to-complete, cash flow, and risks, identifying deviations early and agreeing timely actions with project teams.
  • Establishing rolling cash forecasts and improving working capital management across the Group.
  • Coordinating annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial models aligned with Group strategy.
  • Delivering management dashboards, financial analysis, and performance reports that support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Working closely with finance teams across the group, establishing Group-wide standards, and driving automation and digitalisation of financial processes.

What makes you exceptional?

You combine strong financial expertise with commercial thinking and a hands-on leadership style. You know how to turn complex financial data into clear insights and practical actions, while keeping both customer and employee experience at the heart of decision-making.

You are curious, analytical, and persistent in uncovering what truly drives business results. You confidently challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and engage with senior business leaders while building trust and maintaining constructive relationships.

You enjoy leveraging new technologies to transform processes, develop people, and strengthen cross-functional capabilities, always looking for better ways of working. You understand the challenges of scaling an international organisation and thrive in an environment where your contribution has a direct and measurable impact on business performance.

You bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance, including at least 5 years in a senior controlling or FP&A leadership role.
  • Strong experience in project-based or production businesses, preferably construction, infrastructure, engineering, energy, or manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to build or develop controlling functions and lead budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting across multiple companies.
  • Solid understanding of project economics, cost control, contract profitability, and cash flow management.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, combined with sound knowledge of IFRS and Group financial reporting.
  • Confidence working with CEOs, CFO, and operational leaders, translating financial insights into business decisions.
  • Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence, and financial process automation.
  • International experience and willingness to travel regularly to group companies, including in Poland.
  • A university degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English; Estonian and/or Polish language skills are an advantage.

Why Verston:

  • Strategic impact in a key leadership role with direct influence on Group profitability, financial performance, and international growth.
  • Professional leadership team that values expertise, initiative, and the courage to challenge the status quo.
  • Long-term career development, with potential to grow into a broader financial leadership role.
  • Competitive compensation with a performance-based bonus.
  • Modern and cosy workplace in Ülemiste City with parking compensation.
  • Flexible work arrangements, health benefits, extra paid time off, team events, and more.
