Are you an engineering leader who never stopped being an engineer? Flashpoint is looking for an Engineering Lead II to take technical ownership of Echosec, Strategic Entity Data and Identify. This team is small, senior, and productive: it ships fast, and it does it across a Laravel platform, a Python AI service, and a data pipeline that ingests some of the most sensitive breach and leak data in the industry. If you enjoy owning the architecture as well as the roadmap, being in the code often enough to earn your team's trust, and making hard sequencing calls, we have a role for you.

You will be the engineering half of a partnership with a Product Manager who knows this domain cold, and you will be accountable for the technical direction that partnership depends on. Flashpoint customers use these products to find the threat before it reaches them. The systems you will own are how they do it.

We have a role for you if, you:

• have led a team of five to eight engineers that owned a customer-facing product end to end, and you were accountable for the roadmap, the architecture and the on-call rotation.

• run production workloads on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• have inherited a mature application you did not write, resisted the urge to rewrite it, and instead made it measurably safer to change.

• owned a quarterly commitment cycle end to end: scoped the work, published the dates, and raised the flag early when something slipped.

• treat growth and retention as part of the job.

• have been close enough to the code to have credibility with your team, and disciplined enough not to become the bottleneck in it.

What you will get to do on our team:

• own the technical direction of three product surfaces, Echosec, SED and Identify, and the architecture that connects them.

• lead the Echosec platform, a mature Laravel application running on Kubernetes.

• take the AI layer further. Our Python service powers natural-language search, summarisation and agentic reporting over threat data, and the ceiling on what it can do has not been found yet.

• own the Strategic Entity Data API and ingestion pipeline, including the architectural decisions on cost, scale and data quality.

• partner directly with the Product Manager and other engineering teams across Flashpoint.

• grow a team of senior engineers and own their career paths, promotions and performance.

• represent this team where the decisions actually get made: KPI reviews, commitment reviews, and cross-team architecture forums.

What you will achieve:

Within 30 days:

• You will know the people on this team, what each of them wants next, and who your partners are across Product, SRE, Platform, Data, and Intel.

• You will understand how a customer request moves through the product planning process within the organization.

• You will have shared your first honest read on what's working and what isn't.

Within 60 days:

• The team's operating rhythm will be yours.

• You and your Product Manager will have a clear split of decisions and next quarter’s roadmap.

By 90 days:

• The team will have a technical direction for Echosec, SED and Identify that you shaped with them.

• You will be running the quarterly commitment cycle with your partner on Product Management.

• You will be the first call for anything technical in this area.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Experience managing engineers as their direct manager, including performance conversations, career development, promotion advocacy, and hiring.

• Production experience with a mature server-side web application at scale. PHP and Laravel specifically, or comparable depth in another framework with a genuine willingness to work in this one.

• Hands-on experience running services on Kubernetes with managed Postgres and Redis in a public cloud.

• Experience owning production reliability: on-call rotations, incident command, post-incident review, and the discipline to close the actions that come out of them.

Base Pay Range: $145,800-$180,000 per year, plus target bonus
