Position Summary:The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, HR administration, compliance, and employee engagement. This role serves as a trusted resource for our employees and managers while helping ensure HR policies and practices are consistently and effectively implemented.This role will focus on supporting ourvarious populations acrossNorth America, providing a positive employee experience in a fast-paced, frontline environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a first-level HR resource for store leadership teams and retail employees, providing guidance on workplace concerns, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as an intake point and administrative facilitatory for store-level employee concerns, conducting initial fact-finding and partner with HR leadership on resolutions.
- Manage documentation related to employee performance, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Be the initial point of contact for employee-related questions on time and attendance, disciplinary actions, performance plans, etc.
- Manage day-to-day HR operations and provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and workplace practices.
- Conduct regular store visits within the NYC Market to build relationships with employees and maintain a strong HR presence in retail locations.
Retail Onboarding & HRIS Management
- Support hiring managers and HR Operations team by coordinating the new hire onboarding process for all retail employees, ensuring timely entry into Workday (HRIS) and processing IT requests.
- Support hiring managers and HR Operations with verifying the compliance and integrity of all new hire documentation, including I-9s, Wage Acknowledgement Forms and employment eligibility to completion.Â
- Create, train, and present HR Compliance and SOP related material for Retail New Hire Onboardings, in partnership with Retail Onboarding Partners, as needed.
HR Compliance & Administration
- Partner with HRBPs and HR Operations to ensure timely and accurate submission of new hire and termination details, including completed onboarding paperwork, IT offboarding, final paychecks (where applicable), etc.
- Support HRBP and HR Operations Team to support HR audits and reviewing reports, tracking compliance metrics and ensuring accurate employee records.
- Maintain employee personnel files and support the HR Operations team with processing unemployment claims, employment verifications, and leave of absence documentation.
Other
- Partner with the HR Operations team to provide benefits-related support, directing employees to appropriate resources as needed.
- Assist with drafting and updating HR communications, including employee handbooks, policy updates, and store-specific HR announcements.
- Assist with special HR projects and initiatives such as employee engagement initiatives, training rollouts, and compliance tracking.
- Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, transfers, promotions, performance management, and offboarding.
- Facilitate new-hire onboarding and ensure employees receive required documentation, training, and resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS information.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, performance issues, and conflict resolution.
- Partner with managers on performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation as needed.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and organizational development initiatives.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Maintain knowledge of current HR trends, employment regulations, and best practices.
- Handle sensitive employee information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of HR experience, including familiarity with basic employment law (EEO, FLSA, HIPAA, etc.)
- Experience working with Retail and/or Food & Beverage industries is preferred.
- Experience working at either a scaling/fast growing company or at a large scale company with experience in crafting scalable and consistent processes.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Skills/Abilities:
- Extremely organized, detail oriented, and analyticalÂ
- Ability to build effective relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with HRIS systems and Google suite or comparable tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple prioritiesÂ
- Possess a natural, yet professional ease at working with and relating to the needs of employees in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Must be flexible to adapt to these changing business needs or special projects
