Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures the campus creates a favorable impression
• Prepares grounds for assigned activities
• Makes sure plants are free of disease and insects, applying chemicals as needed
• Keeps the ground clear of debris
• Ensures grounds are clear and safe during inclement weather
• Monitors equipment for optimal performance, reporting malfunctions, breakages to the supervisor
• Maintains KCU vehicles, washing cars, delivering cars for minor preventive maintenance  services, taking vehicle in for repairs, performing detail cleaning
• Helps with office and department moves
• Assists with special events
• Occasional driver responsibility of university van between campuses in Kansas City and Joplin, local and out of town meetings and events
• Contributes to the team effort by performing related duties as needed or assigned

Qualifications:

• Knowledge typically obtained through a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding information necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
• One year of experience in groundskeeping preferred
• Must have valid driver's license
• Must be capable of operating and maintaining a variety of equipment used on grounds - including snow removal equipment
• Willing and available to work alternative hours as needed for season or special events
• Requires the ability to bend, stoop, and lift 120 pounds
