Grocery Clerk

Job Summary:
The Grocery Clerk/Stocker is responsible for stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring the grocery department remains clean, safe, and customer-friendly. This position plays a key role in providing an excellent shopping experience by keeping products readily available and properly displayed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Stock shelves, displays, coolers, and end caps with merchandise according to company standards.
• Rotate products using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Check expiration dates and remove damaged, outdated, or unsellable products.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked aisles.
• Assist with unloading trucks and moving merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor.
• Verify inventory counts and report shortages or discrepancies to management.
• Build and maintain promotional displays and seasonal merchandising setups.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service, including assisting customers in locating products.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and company policies and procedures.
• Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and box cutters safely.
• Assist with store recovery, cleaning, and other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail, grocery, or stocking experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout shifts.
• Work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments.
