GR Japan is looking to recruit a bilingual (Japanese and English) Public Policy Associate Manager for our office in Tokyo (Nagatacho), to support our work in Japan, including a range of Japanese public policy issues.
Â
We are looking for an individual with at least three to five yearsâ working experience and/or Japanese policy-related work. Project management experience is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate their expertise in their business fields, as well as basic understanding of policy making in Japan, with a genuine interest in public policy, government, politics, strategy consultancy and/or international business.

RESPONSIBILITY
- Conduct client-specific research on current policy issues
- Manage, coordinate, and support client relationships, client accounts, and projects
- Working with clients, external stakeholders and colleagues on a variety of key policy challenges
- Helping clients achieve their public policy and other public affairs goals
- Helping to implement strategic outreach and engagement plans with policy-relevant stakeholders
- All-round support for the GR Japan and the GR Company teams, including generating ideas and proposals for new business development
- Work with colleagues on a variety of important policy challenges

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Native or advanced business-level proficiency in Japanese, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in a professional environment
- Business-level English proficiency appropriate for professional client communication
- Good university degree, ideally a masterâs in a related subject, such as public policy, economics, politics, communications or international relations
- At least three to five yearsâ relevant experience, for example in business and/or government or government relations, politics, an international organisation, strategy consulting, etc.
- Understanding of Japanese policy-making process, and a working knowledge of Japanese government and politics is considered as an asset
