Role overview:
We're looking for a passionate R&D Grant Project Manager to join our team at Stargate Hydrogen. In this role you take ownership of the day-to-day management of our ongoing national and EU-funded R&D projects, including Stargate's Innovation Fund project, ensuring smooth project coordination and supporting their successful implementation.
You'd fit perfectly into this role if you are detail oriented, tech-savvy or a fast learner ready to get into the hydrogen world, enjoy a fast-paced environment, love to travel, and are ready to take ownership of your work.
This position is based in Tallinn, and we expect you to work from our office at least 3 days a week.
About the company:
At Stargate, you will be part of a team determined to change the world. We are passionate about climate, hydrogen and innovation. Our enthusiastic team and pioneering spirit offer the opportunity to work with real purpose. We work in an agile way and solve problems without unnecessary bureaucracy. You'll join the R&D team, where you'll be responsible for project implementation. You'll work closely with our lab and engineering teams, who are responsible for delivering technical content and real components of the electrolysis technology. You will also be in regular contact with the Finance team.
What does the day-to-day look like in this role?
• Making sure the work follows the established work plan and set goals.
• Taking part in drafting new grant applications to fund Stargate's next developments.
• Supporting ongoing project reporting by collecting, structuring and combining technical and financial data.
• Ensuring project deliverables and milestones reach the funding body on time.
• Preparing and organising project meetings.
• Keeping project records organised and structured.
• Managing daily communication between everyone involved, including Stargate employees and consortium partners.
• Working closely with the R&D teams to reach project goals.
• Attending project meetings abroad, usually 2 to 3 trips per quarter.
Must-have qualifications:
• A problem-solver who takes charge and handles both challenging and routine tasks efficiently.
• Proven experience managing grant-funded projects. Experience managing Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe projects is preferred.
• A solid understanding of grant management principles and guidelines.
• Self-discipline and a clear focus on results.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills that keep project operations running smoothly.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
Nice-to-have qualifications:
• Experience in a coordinator role on an EU-funded project.
• Experience with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
• Experience with technology-driven projects.
Horizon Europe experience is a strong plus. If you have solid project management experience and want to build expertise in EU funding, we'd still like to hear from you.
Why us?
• You will join a world-class team of 65+ experienced and goal-driven professionals and hydrogen technology experts.
• We are an agile scale-up wishing to make a difference in a field typically dominated by large and slow behemoths.
• We have secured €29m in state aid via the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) framework as well as the EU Innovation Fund, and are backed by our existing investors such as UGI, SmartCap and Repsol.
• We are one of the most successful Estonian companies in applying for Horizon Europe funding. You will get to work with a broad range of partners across Europe and on very different projects (IPCEI, Innovation Fund, Clean Hydrogen Partnership, Clean Energy Transition Partnership, Horizon Europe).
• The performance of our ceramic electrode technology has been independently validated by Fraunhofer IFAM in Dresden, and the performance of our prototype stack by ZSW in Stuttgart.
What's in it for you?
• You will be able to contribute to electrolysis technology and its novel applications, thereby participating in creating a net zero world.
• You can accelerate your career and enjoy professional growth opportunities.
• You can choose between employer health insurance or sports compensation.
• We organise regular team events and company Summer Days that build camaraderie, collaboration and fun outside of the workplace.
We aim to fill this position at the earliest opportunity, so we encourage interested candidates to submit their applications promptly.
