Job Description
Job Summary:
This graduate role is ideal for someone passionate aboutelectrical engineering and looking to grow a career insubstation protection and control systems. You will gain hands-on experience indesigning, configuring and testing protection and control solutions for different voltage level substations.
You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers and will rotate through various teams within Grid Automation to build a strong technical foundation insubstation automation, SCADA systems, communication protocols (IEC 61850), and cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations
- Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
- Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
- Learn and apply IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
- Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
- Engage in continuous learning, attend training sessions, and contribute to technical innovation.
- Work closely with project and delivery teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
Essential Qualifications:
- Abachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering,Power Systems, or a related field.
- Basic understanding ofprotection schemes,relay logic, andcontrol system principles.
- Familiarity withpower system fundamentals,substation layouts, orsingle line diagrams.
- Knowledge of or interest inSCADA/DCS systems, industrial communications, orcybersecurity in energy systems.
- Competence in tools such asPython, MATLAB, orAutoCAD is a plus.
- Stronganalytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
