About The Job:

• We are seeking an experienced IBM Storage Scale (GPFS) / Linux Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in IBM GPFS (IBM Storage Scale), Linux administration, DB2 PureScale environments, and enterprise storage technologies.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, configuring, optimizing, troubleshooting, and supporting GPFS environments while contributing to DB2 infrastructure management and modernization initiatives.
• This role will support one of the largest projects in Europe and requires strong hands-on expertise in GPFS administration, storage technologies, Flash Copy cloning concepts, performance tuning, disaster recovery solutions, and enterprise database infrastructure operations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage and support Linux-GPFS (IBM Storage Scale) implementations within IBM DB2 environments.
• Support and administer GPFS environments for large-scale enterprise projects and critical business systems.
• Implement, configure, maintain, and optimize IBM GPFS infrastructure within DB2 PureScale environments.
• Work with Flash Copy and Cloning technologies implemented at storage and server levels.
• Provide support for database cloning, disaster recovery (DR), performance optimization, and platform resilience initiatives.
• Adjust and tune GPFS configurations to optimize DB2 PureScale performance and operational efficiency.
• Monitor GPFS and Linux environments proactively to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance and availability issues.
• Evaluate GPFS impact on DB2 performance, maintenance operations, and overall platform stability.
• Develop custom solutions to improve performance, storage management, database cloning, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Support implementation and maintenance of both Db2-managed and native GPFS installations.
• Resolve NSD name assignment issues within DB2 and GPFS environments.
• Manage and maintain GPFS STANZA files and related configuration artifacts.
• Utilize encapsulated SSH and SCP commands within DB2 environments for administration and automation activities.
• Work with GPFS features including Active File Management (AFM) and other enterprise storage capabilities.
• Perform GPFS performance tuning, optimization, troubleshooting, and operational monitoring.
• Support storage administration and infrastructure operations aligned with enterprise best practices.
• Participate in database management and DBA-related activities, including willingness to learn and support DB2 database administration.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations aligned with IBM best practices and enterprise standards.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, implementation guides, and support procedures.

Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of IBM GPFS (IBM Storage Scale) and its integration with DB2 PureScale environments.
• Experience working with GPFS automation and Ansible.
• Expertise in both Db2-managed and native GPFS implementations.
• Hands-on experience with IBM Storage Scale / GPFS in DB2 PureScale environments.
• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Good understanding of enterprise storage concepts and storage management fundamentals.
• Knowledge of Flash Copy and Cloning technologies.
• Experience resolving NSD name assignment issues in DB2 environments.
• Familiarity with GPFS STANZA files and related configuration management.
• Experience using SSH, SCP, and Linux administrative tools within enterprise DB2 environments.
• Deep understanding of GPFS features such as Active File Management (AFM).
• Strong experience tuning GPFS for performance optimization and system scalability.
• Hands-on experience monitoring and troubleshooting GPFS environments.
• Experience in performance analysis, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup, cloning, and business continuity concepts.
• DB2 database management knowledge is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with infrastructure, storage, database, and application teams.
