GIS Mapper (On-site)

HEPCO is seeking a GIS Editor to support our client’s electric utility mapping and asset records. The GIS Editor will update geospatial data, maintain system connectivity, and produce maps and reports supporting the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric utility systems.

• Update and maintain the GIS connected model using work orders, as-built drawings, completion records, field reports, and other source documents.
• Edit and modify geospatial data to accurately reflect electric utility assets and system relationships.
• Perform queries and analysis to prepare reports, tables, charts, and custom maps.
• Produce standard prints and specialized maps for field requests and distribute updated prints.
• Maintain service point data and its connection to the supplying transformer.
• Track utility asset history, inspections, and supporting attachments.
• Investigate and resolve conflicting mapping, connectivity, land, and asset data through office research or occasional fieldwork.
• Support facility relocations, load rearrangements, new service projects, and other major utility initiatives.
• Perform manual or computer-aided drafting and maintain related records.
• Operate printers, plotters, scanners, and other office equipment.
• Assist team members with related office and field assignments.

Required Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of GIS experience gained through employment, coursework, or internships.
• Experience updating, editing, and modifying geospatial data within maps.
• Understanding of GIS applications, data relationships, and connectivity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Windows applications.
• Ability to learn utility business applications, equipment, transmission and distribution systems, and applicable safety procedures.
• Ability to work at various locations based on business needs and workload.
• Valid driver’s license permitting operation of motor vehicles in New Jersey.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Electric utility mapping or asset management experience.

Pay Range: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
