Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilledGIS IT Security Specialist to support and secure Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure and applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of GIS platforms, data, and related IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintainsecurity controls for GIS applications, servers, and databases
• Monitor, detect, and respond tosecurity threats and vulnerabilities impacting GIS systems
• Conductrisk assessments, security audits, and compliance reviews for GIS environments
• Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and IT teams to designsecure GIS architectures
• Ensure compliance withstate, federal, and industry security standards
• Manageidentity and access controls for GIS platforms
• Support incident response, forensic analysis, and remediation activities
• Maintain security documentation, policies, and procedures related to GIS systems

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience inIT Security / Cybersecurity
• Strong knowledge ofGIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Understanding ofnetwork security, firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint security
• Familiarity withdata security, encryption, and access management
• Experience withvulnerability management and security monitoring tools
• Knowledge ofsecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO, CIS, etc.)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Nice to Have

• Experience securingcloud-based GIS environments
• Knowledge ofscripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
• GIS certifications orCybersecurity certifications (Security+, CISSP, etc.)
