Position Title: GIS Developer
Location: 6230 E Stassney Ln, Austin, TX 78744
Duration: 12 MONTHS
Work Schedule:normal work hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Responsibilities:
This position will serve as a GIS Developer of custom and COTS GIS Applications and Systems. The work involves, planning, developing, implementing, supporting and maintaining GIS applications/systems with minimal supervision.
The essential duties for this position include but are not limited to: - Support and maintain GIS Applications/Systems
- Design and build new features, functionality and modules
- Review and modify code for front-end/GIS modules and tools
- Evaluate user requests for new features/functionality and provide any necessary technical assistance
- Monitor application performance and recommend/implement efficiency improvements
- Work to resolve security risks and vulnerabilities
- Upgrade GIS Applications/Systems to remain in compliance with TxDOT's policies
- Conduct GIS data analysis and review
- Ability to work on both projects (PMO) and operational tasks
- Support end users (business, vendors, other functional teams, EOCs)
- Publish, tune, and troubleshoot ArcGIS Server map services
- Work with cross-functional teams
- Work with Divisions/Districts on GIS Applications/Data Processes
Minimum (Required):Years Skills/Experience 8 Development, testing, installation, and deployment of custom GIS applications 8 HTML5, CSS 8 JavaScript, TypeScript, React 8 Streamlit 8 C#, .Net 8 Esri ArcGIS - JavaScript API (version 3.x and 4.x)
- ArcSDE
- Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server
- Configuration and troubleshooting
- Map service publishing, tuning, and troubleshooting
- ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap/ArcPro, ArcCatalog)
8 Esri APIs - ArcGIS API for Python
- ArcPy
- ArcGIS REST API
8 IDE/tools (Visual Studio, SSMS, SQL Developer, ADO) or similar
Preferred (Optional):Years Skills/Experience 8 Azure DevOps/Jira (project management, user stories/bugs/test cases, etc.) 8 Version control systems (Azure DevOps, GIT, GitLab) 8 Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL 8 Agile methodology 8 FME Desktop/Server, creation of workbenches and flows 8 ArcGIS Enterprise installation and configuration (Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Data Stores, ArcGIS Online) 8 Server management and configuration (IIS, AWS) 8 AI prompt engineering 8 Code Assistance (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.)
