SUMMARY
Supervises resources for the development, implementation, and administration of assigned radiological programs. Directs the efforts of Health Physics Supervision personnel to complete work activities as scheduled to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the units. Directs the analysis of plant performance and provides recommendations regarding plant operations, maintenance, or testing to reduce radiological impact on plant staff and members of the public.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics or related science. (Preferred)
- Without the above degree, 5 years of professional level experience in radiation protection may be considered.
- Master’s degree in Health Physics or related science (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE
- 5 Years professional level experience in radiation protection and include such areas as pre-operational/startup activities, operations, maintenance, or testing of a nuclear power plant. (Required)
- Supervisory or leadership experience. (Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
- National Registry of Radiation Protection Technician (Required)
- Certified Health Physicist (Preferred)
- ABHP Certified Health Physicist (Preferred)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures adherence to established expectations and performance criteria for assigned personnel.
- Directs the efforts of Health Physics personnel to complete work activities as scheduled to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the units. Sets priorities and establishes schedules.
- Directs the performance of self-assessments and evaluations designed to ensure radiological programs meet or exceed all regulatory and technical specification requirements using appropriate industry best techniques.
- Ensures timely problem identification and appropriate corrective action. Assists assigned personnel in analyzing issues and correcting problems.
- Mentor personnel through challenges. Keeps leadership aware of problems that arise during each shift.
- Provides support for plant personnel regarding assigned radiological programs. Interfaces with Operations, Engineering, Work Control and Projects management to plan and implement work in the RCA.
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies by leading meetings and discussions to provide specific information required to address questions/problems.
- Directs the preparation of procurement documents for purchase of equipment, materials, and services to support assigned program areas.
- Monitor organizational activities, evaluate impact of internal and external factors (e.g., technology, regulations, business environment) and implement response plans.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
- Ensures development plans are in place and followed.
- Performs personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals).
- Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).
- Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.
- Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.
- Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.
- Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.
- Understands and implements company policies.
- Provides employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accept ERO position as needed.
- Accept outage position as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access if needed.
- Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for radiation protection, radioactive material shipping, and respiratory protection. Knowledge of assigned programs sufficient to instruct personnel, monitors trends, and determine appropriate response to problems.
- General technical knowledge of plant systems.
- Demonstrated analytical ability. Ability to use complex mathematical formulas and models to calculate doses, shielding, and radioactive source terms.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
- Normal office environment
- Alternate work schedules as needed.
- Travel may be required.

- Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site. Â

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
