General Manager

A well-established distributor of audio-visual and smart home technologies in Malta is seeking aGeneral Managerto lead their next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full ownership of the business, including strategy, profit and loss, brand partnerships, and people. You will lead a small, close-knit team, strengthen relationships with international principals and the network of installers, integrators, and retailers, and shape the growth of an established company in a fast-moving sector.

This role offers genuine autonomy and influence over the direction of the business, with a structured handover from the current General Manager.

Earn up to €72,500 per annum — comprising a competitive base salary of €42,500 plus a performance bonus of up to €30,000, rewarding you for driving real business growth.

Please note that only candidates already based in Malta and fluent in Maltese will be considered.

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the annual business plan, budget, and multi-year growth strategy

• Own the P&L, margins, cash flow, and working capital, reporting regularly to the Managing Director

• Manage and grow relationships with international principals, including distribution agreements, targets, and annual reviews

• Build and nurture a strong channel of installers, system integrators, architects, interior designers, developers, and retailers

• Oversee purchasing, stock planning, logistics, warehousing, and import compliance

• Lead, coach, and motivate the team, setting clear objectives and a culture of accountability and service

• Ensure compliance with Maltese and EU legislation, including product safety, CE standards, WEEE, environmental obligations, and GDPR

• Manage risk, insurance, credit control, and supplier terms

Skills & Experience

Essential

• At least 5 years of commercial or operational management experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a senior leadership role.

• Proven record of delivering profit growth in distribution, wholesale, technology, electronics, or consumer goods

• Strong commercial acumen, with experience negotiating with international suppliers and managing B2B channels

• Solid financial literacy: budgeting, margin management, forecasting, and credit control.

• Demonstrated leadership of small teams, with the ability to motivate and develop people.

• Excellent communication skills in English and Maltese. Knowledge of Italian and/or Spanish will be considered an asset

• Degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field (an MBA or equivalent is an advantage)

Desirable

• Knowledge of audio-visual, home automation, electrical appliances, networking, or consumer electronics.

• Experience launching or scaling a business, brand, or product line.

• Established network among Maltese installers, developers, and the construction and hospitality sectors.

• Familiarity with project-based selling and tendering.
