Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. company) is an organization of professionals in the building materials manufacturing and distribution industry.  We manufacture and distribute clay brick and concrete block, and sell and distribute associated products manufactured by others.  We operate in 13 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor. 

Summary

We are seeking a “best in class” Project Engineer that will provide engineering design, specifications and technical services to Production. This candidate must have education and/or experience in the field of facilities infrastructure, engineering and maintenance, aiding in the completion of assignments associated with this position. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to roll with the punches, being flexible to handle anything that might come their way. You will be a strong and reliable support to company

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)  

• Engineering design and optimization: Review, modify, and approve engineering drawings for facility renovations, expansions 
and system upgrades related to civil, mechanical and electrical systems 
• Project and contractor supervision: Serve as the primary project engineer for capital improvement projects; select, schedule 
and supervise external contractors and technicians 
• Compliance and safety: Ensure all facilities projects adhere to local building codes, OSHA regulations, fire safety mandates 
and environmental laws. 
• Performing project research and completing technical design tasks 
• Prepare opinion of probable cost, construction specifications and contract documents 
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents  
• Handle multiple projects at one time 
• Develop scope, preparation of engineering designs, specifications, RFQ packages, capital request development, and upon 
approval the actual construction 
• Work in accordance with company standards and values with project team for a variety of projects   

Skills and Experience Required for Success

• Engage with production and sales facilities daily to assist with projects and facility repairs and upgrades 
• AutoCAD Civil 3D Software skills preferred 
• Basic understanding engineering design principles required 
• Able to set and meet design schedules and deadlines, control costs, scheduling, change orders, general meeting and reporting 
• Experience in project management

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Facilities Engineering (similar degree or experience considered) PE 
license would be beneficial
