Position:                Director of Student Care

Department:            Student Life & Christian Mission

Status:                      Full Time

Position Summary:

The Director for Student Care reports directly to the Dean for Student Well-Being. TheDirector will provide non-clinical services to holistically support students who are navigating difficult life events and crisis situations that can impact the student’s ability to be successful. This will include managing an individual caseload of students, crisis follow-up, and support for the university behavioral intervention team. The Director will also work with the Dean to develop and implement programming and assessment plans to support student well-being and thriving at Campbell University. Additionally, the Director will serve as an investigator in Title IX cases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will provide campus-wide non-clinical case management services to address the needs of at-risk students who are experiencing academic, interpersonal, or health-related difficulties.
  • Support students in identifying and addressing problems and connect them with appropriate support services. Collaborate with internal partners to provide comprehensive support services and resources to students.
  • Serve as a member of the University’s Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT).
  • Direct case management services include outreach, non-clinical crisis management, follow-up for students who have been referred to the CARES (Campus Advocacy, Resource, Empowerment and Support) Team.
  • Collaborates on CARES and BAT team action plans and monitors student progress.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with campus partners to support University-wide retention efforts.
  • Collaborates with the Dean and other key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and holistic approach to student well-being.
  • Collaborate with Counseling Services, Spiritual Life, and CARES to assist with hospitalization, discharge follow-up, and students returning to campus.
  • Collaborates with Title IX office to provide assistance and information to pregnant/parenting students.
  • Serves as a Title IX investigator.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Education/Experience:

  • Masters degree and 3-5 years of professional experience in student affairs/higher administration, social work, counseling, or related field.
  • Experience with case management.
  • Experience in higher education desired.
  • Experience conducting investigations desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, time management, and event planning skills.
  • Self-starter with a willingness and ability to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, social media, and web-based applications.
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment and its usage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, speaking, and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Exercise independent judgment in stressful, complex, and/or new situations.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, administrators, external agencies and the public.
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
