TheMetropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) is looking for a motivatedAirfield Maintenance Technician to help keep our airport safe, efficient, and looking its best.
This isn't your typical maintenance job. You'll work on the airfield, maintain critical infrastructure, operate specialized equipment, support winter weather operations, and play a direct role in ensuring safe travel for thousands of passengers. What You'll Do
- Maintain airport grounds through mowing, landscaping, and general property upkeep.
- Operate trucks, tractors, trailers, mowers, and specialized airport maintenance equipment.
- Repair and maintain runways, taxiways, airport roads, and other paved surfaces.
- Conduct airfield, fence, drainage, and infrastructure inspections.
- Assist with pavement markings and runway surface maintenance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
- Support snow and ice removal operations during winter weather events.
- Follow FAA, DOT, and airport safety standards while completing required training.
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or GED required. Experience in commercial mowing, snow and ice removal, asphalt or concrete maintenance, construction, agriculture, or equipment operation is preferred. We're seeking dependable, safety-minded team players who enjoy outdoor work, can adapt to changing priorities, and are eager to learn new skills in a fast-paced airport environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The ideal candidate has experience operating maintenance equipment and hand tools, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely around aircraft, vehicles, and airport facilities. Successful candidates are effective communicators, problem-solvers, and team players who can follow instructions, identify hazards, and maintain compliance with airport, FAA, and DOT regulations while delivering high-quality work.
