Job Description
See what you’re missing. Our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics – from detecting threats for F-35 pilots to illuminating the night for soldiers. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we’re innovating for the future. And you can, too.ÂÂ
Our flexible work environment provides you a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first – exemplified by our mission: “We Protect Those Who Protect Us®.” Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems.Â
Â
Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) has technology, engineering and program teams that educate and mentor colleagues to deliver leading Electronic Warfare capabilities. We welcome all those who have big ideas, crave innovation, want to drive fielding velocity, and have the passion to bring the warfighter home safe.Â
Â
BAE is looking for a full stack developer/front end/cloud developer.  The successful candidate will focus on developing applications using modern programming languages such as Node.js, Google Go, or Python. They should have experience with both relational and non-relational databases, and demonstrate a strong understanding of microservices architecture, including the development and deployment of services in containerized environments using Kubernetes. This role requires a keen understanding of how to scale applications in a cloud-native environment, leveraging cloud services for optimal performance and efficiency. The role encompasses support through all phases of the software development lifecycle.Â
Â
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. Â
Required Skills and Education
The Full Stack Developer candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:Â
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.Â
Ability to obtain US Secret ClearanceÂ
A minimum of 6 months of professional experience in programming and software development across multiple layers of the software stack (UI, web services, microservices, databases).Â
Preferred Skills and Education
Proficiency in using project management, documentation, and source control tools.Â
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and services beyond Kubernetes, such as service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), serverless frameworks, and cloud-specific resource management.Â
Familiarity in implementing security best practices in application development and deployment, particularly in environments with stringent compliance requirements.Â
Knowledge in utilizing observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) for monitoring and troubleshooting applications.Â
Experience with agile development methodologies and the ability to work in fast-paced, iterative development environments.Â
Previous experience working within cross-functional development teams, demonstrating excellent collaboration and communication skills.Â
Proven experience in leading or advanced programming and software development, including analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and/or upgrading of software systems.Â
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support enterprise applications while ensuring 24/7 availability.Â
At least 2 years of experience in full-stack development, including proficiency in Node.js, Google Go, Python, or similar modern programming languages.Â
Strong expertise in working with both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).Â
Solid understanding of microservices architecture, including the development, deployment, and scaling of services in containerized environments using Kubernetes.Â
Demonstrated experience in developing, deploying, and scaling applications in cloud environments.Â
Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.Â
Experience in ensuring high availability and reliability of enterprise applications.Â
