Description:
Position: Senior Full Stack Engineer - Python / React / AWS
They are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong Python, React, and AWS experience to join a global investment technology team supporting quantitative research and investment platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work across the front end, backend, data, and cloud layers to build and support applications used by investment professionals, including portfolio managers and traders.
The team is responsible for cloud-enabled platforms supporting signal generation, back-testing, data management, and investment analytics across active, factor, and alternative investment strategies.
The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who is comfortable working across the full technology stack and enjoys solving complex technical problems in a collaborative environment. Experience in asset management, equities, quantitative research, trading, or financial technology is highly valued.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack applications usingPython, React, and AWS.
- Build modern web applications and backend services supporting investment research and analytics.
- DevelopPython-based APIs and services, primarily usingFastAPI.
- Build responsive front-end applications usingReact 18.
- Design, develop, and support applications running in AWS, including both existing platforms and new cloud-based solutions.
- Participate in AWS architecture and application design for new solutions.
- Work with AWS services includingECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
- Develop scalable APIs, microservices, serverless applications, and data pipelines.
- Work withPostgreSQL and other data technologies supporting investment applications.
- Use Python data and analytics libraries such asPandas and NumPy.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to DevOps and cloud deployment practices.
- Participate in Proofs of Concept (POCs) to evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches.
- Help modernize existing applications and develop new cloud-native solutions.
- Build applications that aresecure, resilient, scalable, observable, and performant.
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, Product Owners, Business Partners, and investment professionals.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions in an Agile development environment.
- Communicate directly with internal investment users, includingportfolio managers and traders.
Must Have
- Senior-level software development experience.
- Strong professional experience developing applications withPython.
- Strong professional experience developing applications with React, preferablyReact18.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud development.
- Experience working across the full application stack — front end, backend, APIs, data, and cloud.
- Experience withFastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
- Experience designing and developingREST APIs, microservices, and/or serverless applications.
- Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
- Experience withPostgreSQL or another relational database.
- Experience building or supportingdata-driven applications and data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing, security,observability, scalability, and performance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in anAgile development environment.
- Some experience in Investment/Asset mgmt (companies like Blackrock or Fidelity)
Preferred Experience
- Experience inasset management, investment management,equities, quantitative research, trading, or financial technology.
- Experience supporting quantitative research, back-testing, signal generation, factor strategies, portfolio analytics, or investment applications.
- Understanding of investment concepts such asfactor modeling, portfolios, signals, and back-testing.
- Experience working with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Boto3, Dask, or other Python data/analytics libraries.
- Experience with additional AWS services such as Glue or Athena.
- Experience withSNS/SQS and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Okta, authentication, or session management.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such asBamboo, Bitbucket, Artifactory, or Ansible.
- Experience designing optimized data architectures and caching strategies.
