As a Frontend Engineer at Canopy, you will design and build world-class user interfaces using technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Svelte, Vite, GraphQL, Tailwind, and other modern frontend tools. You will work closely with our design team to implement high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, and translate them into robust, maintainable code. You will also interface with our backend team to build strong interoperability with our backend stack. We are looking for candidates with strong experience in JavaScript generally. TypeScript in a very nice-to-have, but not strictly required... a desire to learn would be a must, though. We've decided to build our front end stack with Svelte. Svelte experience is not a strict requirement (being that it is a somewhat new framework), but candidates should have multiple years experience in at least one of the following: React, Vue.js, Angular, or Svelte.Having a BS or MS degree in Computer Science is preferred, but bootcamp and/or self-taught candidates are also accepted, provided you have multiple years of experience.Candidates with a self-built portfolio / resume website will be extra welcome. Similarly, bonus points will be granted to candidates who have contributed to open source, and can share these accomplishments with us.You should have very strong communication skills, be a very hard worker, and be extremely self-driven. We should be able to leave you alone for an afternoon, and trust that you're making progress on all the right things. This is an opportunity to join a group of talented engineers, working on cutting-edge technologies, and building an exciting product. You will learn and grow as an engineer, and play a key role with much ownership over product development. Canopy puts an emphasis on beautiful and functional design, so you can be sure that this is work you will be proud of.If this excites you, apply today! This is a more senior role, but we're hiring for ambition and potential as well.Additional Information:- We are a remote first startup, with people located across the West Coast of the US- Sorry, we are unable to sponsor visas or transfers at this time- Premium health insurance benefits, with exceptional company paid premiums- Excellent options package## **About the company**We are a stealth startup recently VC funded in record time. Canopy is building a platform for developers to compose the world's data and make it available in real-time.Many non-tech companies have underperforming websites and struggle to bring together relevant data to assist customers. In e-commerce, for example, when you click an item to see if it's in stock, users often experience slow load times and inaccurate information. The web page needs to pull data on inventory, shipping times, sales tax, and more. However, many companies can't afford to hire software engineers skilled enough to handle these challenges, so they outsource engineers, and the company winds up with a disappointing online experience for consumers.Canopy focuses on real time systems and data orchestration to pull all the right information together and surface it to the right people. For consumers, this means faster load times and more accurate information in web applications. For our clients, our solution will reduce capital spent on employing engineers and new applications will be launched in days rather than months.
