Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage expense accruals, including reviewing SOWs, invoices and historical accruals to determine appropriate accrual amounts.
• Support position management, including position creation/updates in Workday and requisition approval activities based on business requirements.
• Partner with Strategic Finance stakeholders to resolve accrual or position-management questions.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve existing processes, particularly manual accrual and reconciliation activities.
• Use judgement and critical thinking rather than simply following prescribed steps.

Day-to-Day Tasks

• Review incoming position-management requests and execute required changes or approvals.
• Review SOWs and other available information to calculate expense accruals.
• Refer to invoices and prior accrual history where SOW information is unclear.
• Work with Strategic Finance business partners when additional context is needed.
• Work with tools including Workday, Coupa and Excel; EPM/Smart View may also be used for reporting.

Manager’s Expectations

• Strong accrual experience is the priority, including understanding of GL and account codes.
• FP&A experience and strong Excel skills are preferred.
• Position-management experience is useful, but the manager is comfortable teaching this area to someone with the right finance background.
• Able to work independently, while collaborating with the wider team when needed.
• Proactive and improvement-oriented, with the confidence to question existing processes and recommend better approaches.
• Able to interpret data and explain the insights and judgement behind the numbers, including when AI is used to assist with analysis.
• Workday experience is preferred; Oracle ERP, project/change management and EPM experience are nice-to-haves.
