A YC-backed startup building AI-powered patient simulations for therapist training is looking for their first dedicated operations hire. The team is five people, inbound demand is growing fast, and they need someone who can own customer support, automate manual workflows, and build the operational foundation the company needs to scale, all without waiting to be told what to do next.
The ideal candidate has 0 to 2 years of experience in ops, biz ops, customer success, or a GTM-adjacent role at an early-stage startup (under 100 people), or is a recent grad from a top-tier university with a clear signal of high agency, think ex-founder, competitive athlete, or similar. You are technically comfortable, you already use AI tools daily, and you find ambiguity energizing rather than paralyzing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Own the customer support queue end to end, resolving issues quickly and freeing up the founding team to focus on growth
2. Identify recurring friction points across the customer lifecycle and build automated solutions using tools like Zapier or Make
3. Manage customer onboarding logistics including setup, access provisioning, communications, and follow-through
4. Maintain CRM hygiene in HubSpot, track pipeline commitments, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks
5. Spot operational gaps across CS, GTM, and internal processes and implement fixes autonomously
6. Build templated materials, documentation, and lightweight systems that reduce repetitive work as the company scales
7. Collaborate directly with founders on whatever the highest-leverage operational priority is at any given moment
Required Skills & Experience
• 0 to 2 years of experience in ops, biz ops, customer success, or a GTM-adjacent role; new grads with strong excellence signals are welcome
• Based in New York City and available to work in-person five days per week in Union Square
• Technically minded, whether through a CS, data science, or engineering degree or demonstrated hands-on comfort building automations and working with AI tools
• Experience at an early-stage startup (under 100 employees at time of joining) or equivalent scrappy, low-structure environment; big-company-only backgrounds are not a fit here
• Proficient with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude as a genuine part of daily workflow
• Self-directed with high agency, able to identify problems, prioritize, and execute without heavy guidance or structured onboarding
• Authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship (US citizen or green card holder)
Preferred Skills
• Experience at a YC-backed or similarly high-growth early-stage company
• Background as a founder, competitive athlete, or other signal of relentless follow-through and competitive drive
• Hands-on experience with tools in this stack: Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Linear, Zapier, HubSpot
• Familiarity with therapist training, mental health tech, or healthcare-adjacent SaaS
