The Role

A Forward Deployed Engineer who will drive enterprise AI transformation at UST.UST is one of 7 select Anthropic implementation partners globally, and you will build the FDE Practice from first principles. You will work directly with customers implementing Claude across their entire organization: from adoption and enablement through automating critical processes to building AI into their products. This is hands-on technical work combined with strategic advisory. You are not a support function; you are the function. Your execution determines whether customers see real value from Claude. You will also work with our hyperscaler partners for joint FDE deployment, architecting AI-native solutions within enterprise infrastructure, not bolting Claude on top.You will combine deep technical expertise with consultative excellence, and move fluidly across three dimensions of customer value from Adoption to Innovation.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Claude rollout across the customer organization. Admin setup (SSO, multi-tenancy, access controls), role-based enablement workshops for different teams, identifying high-value use cases, establishing a champion network. You make Claude accessible and real for every part of the business.
  • Build Claude into how the customer actually works. You architect agentic systems and intelligent workflows that automate critical business processes. You implement Claude into departmental systems, connect it to the customer data and existing tools (CRM, ERP, file systems), and create measurable automation that reduces cycle time and cost. You are writing prompts, designing workflows, building integrations, deploying production systems.
  • Help the customer embed Claude into their own products and services –customer-facing applications that deliver differentiated value. This work deepens as the relationship matures and requires domain expertise and close collaboration with UST product and industry teams.
  • Design and execute adoption engagements that take customers from contract signature to Claude actively used across multiple teams. Own everything from infrastructure setup and governance through enablement and champion development.
  • Architect and implement Claude-based agents and intelligent workflows that automate customer business processes. This includes prompt engineering, API design, system architecture, integration with customer data sources, and deployment to production. You ship working systems, not prototypes.
  • Serve as the primary technical partner between UST and the customer. Help them understand what Claude can genuinely solve—and what it cannot. Translate business problems into AI solutions. Shape technical strategy with clear-eyed judgment about trade-offs and constraints.
  • Help customers manage the organizational and change-management dimensions of AI transformation. You work with multiple stakeholders (executives, IT, compliance, operations), understand corporate politics, and drive decisions through established processes.
  • Define engagement milestones and success criteria with customers. Deliver predictably against scope. Balance UST business objectives with genuine customer success. Manage multiple customer relationships simultaneously.
  • Write code, engineer prompts, design integrations, troubleshoot issues, and build things.
  • Document patterns and playbooks that make each subsequent engagement faster and more effective. Create reusable components (prompt libraries, workflow templates, integration patterns). Share what you learn with the broader UST team. Build the practice.
  • Partner closely with UST solutions architects, engineers, product specialists, and other FDEs. Know when to escalate and bring in specialized expertise. Operate as part of a high-performing team.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What You Need

  • At least 5 Years of Relevant Experience in Software engineering, solutions architecture, technical consulting, DevOps, or similar roles with a deep expertise in at least one area. Recent agentic AI work, workflow automation, or enterprise systems integration is a strong signal.
  • Direct Hands-On Experience with Claude: You have built with Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and Claude for Microsoft 365 add-ins. You understand these products deeply—their capabilities, limitations, and how they fit into customer workflows.
  • Proven Agentic Systems Experience: You have designed, built, or deployed multi-step autonomous systems using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, n8n, Make, or similar. You understand state management, error handling, reliability patterns, and how to make agents work reliably in production. This is not theoretical—you have shipped agentic systems.
  • Hands-On AI/LLM Production Experience: You have built with generative AI or large language models in production environments. You understand prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, function calling, and when to apply each approach. You have shipped things; this is not theoretical.
  • Strong Technical Foundation: You can write production-grade code (Python, JavaScript, or similar). You understand API design, system architecture, integration patterns, and DevOps fundamentals. You are comfortable with deployment and operational considerations.
  • Product Manager Mindset: You think about outcomes, not features. You prioritize ruthlessly. You can explain technical concepts to business stakeholders and can tie technical decisions to business impact. You ask 'why' before 'what.'
  • Consultative Excellence: You listen more than you talk. You ask good questions before proposing solutions. You earn trust by being honest about constraints, trade-offs, and what is actually feasible.
  • Comfort with Uncertainty & Complexity: You thrive when requirements evolve, technical paths are unclear, or priorities shift. You can make good decisions with incomplete information. You learn quickly and adapt.
  • Experience with Failure: You have worked on projects that did not go as planned. You learned from those experiences and understand common pitfalls. You know how to avoid repeating mistakes. You bring that wisdom to new challenges.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building or deploying agentic systems at scale across multiple customer environments
  • Integration and API experience beyond standard REST (event-driven architectures, message queues, webhooks)
  • Enterprise security, compliance, governance, or risk frameworks
  • Consulting, pre-sales, or customer-success background
  • Process mining or operations research expertise
  • Domain depth in target industries (financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom)
  • AWS deployment and infrastructure knowledge

Location & Compensation

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
