We are building the first AI-native platform forautomated product compliance in MedTech. REMATIQ turn hundreds of page of complex regulations (like MDR and FDA guidance) into structured, actionable requirements that plug directly into our customers’ development and quality processes. The result: life‑saving medical devices reach patients faster and safer.
About the job
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you build software with and for our customers. Existing customers ask for more than the standard product does. They want further use cases, integrations with their own systems and workflows specific to their organisation. You sit with the customer's team, scope the problem and build the solution end to end. It runs at the customer as custom software or becomes a feature of the REMATIQ web app.
This is a software engineering role with customer contact, not a consulting role. You work closely with our AI Deployment Strategists, Product and the platform team.
We believe in the value of in-person collaboration and work in a hybrid setup, with the team coming together in our office in the heart of Berlin-Mitte typically four days per week.
How you'll contribute
Scope with the customer: Sit with their project team and subject-matter experts, understand the workflow and its constraints, and cut the problem into something that can ship in weeks.
Build and ship end to end: Design, develop and deploy the solution, including backend services, integrations, AI workflows and the interface it needs.
Run what you shipped: Operate it in production, fix what breaks, and be the customer's technical contact for it.
Build integrations: Connect REMATIQ to the systems customers already use in their development and quality processes.
Move custom work into the product: Build features in the web app and work with the platform team to turn one customer's solution into a product capability.
Find the next use case: Spot further use cases while you work with the customer and scope them together with Delivery.
Our stack
We work in a modern TypeScript‑first monorepo:
Core: Node.js 20+, TypeScript 5+, pnpm workspaces, Turborepo.
Frontend: React (Vite), Tailwind CSS, and design system.
Backend & workflows: Express-based services, with DBOS for durable workflows.
Data & storage: PostgreSQL with pgvector, Prisma ORM, Azure Blob Storage.
AI & observability: Azure OpenAI, Langfuse, Sentry, plus logging/tracing with tools like Winston and OpenTelemetry.
Dev experience: AI‑assisted workflows with Cursor and Claude Code, integrated into our TypeScript‑first monorepo and review process.
What you'll bring
We are looking for a software engineer who ships production software and is equally at home in a customer's meeting room.
You may be a strong fit if you have:
Relevant background: 3+ years as a software engineer shipping production software, ideally including forward deployed, solutions engineering or other customer-facing engineering work.
Product management or team lead experience: Some experience as a product manager or team lead, where you owned scope, priorities and requirements for what is being built, is a strong plus.
Strong TypeScript and Node.js backend experience: You build and operate production services and can contribute to React frontends where needed.
Solid database fundamentals: PostgreSQL (ideally), including data modelling, migrations and performance.
Integration experience: You have connected a product to enterprise systems through APIs, SSO or data exchange, and have worked within a customer's IT and security constraints.
Experience building with LLMs: You have put LLM-driven features into production and know how to make them predictable and reviewable.
Strong customer presence: You scope a problem with non-technical stakeholders, explain technical trade-offs clearly, and manage expectations without a project manager next to you.
AI-native working style: You use Claude Code or Cursor every day to move faster without compromising reliability.
High ownership: You take an ambiguous customer problem to production with limited guidance.
Willingness to travel: You work on site at customers when the project needs it.
Fluency in English (mandatory). German is a strong plus.
We'll be especially excited if you
Have worked as a forward deployed or customer-embedded engineer
Have built software for a regulated industry such as MedTech or pharma.
Have been a founder or a very early engineer at a startup.
Why this is a great opportunity
Impact in a high-stakes domain – Work on compliance workflows in one of the most regulated industries, where correctness and traceability matter and the outcomes are real.
Bring GenAI into production – Build the systems that make LLM-driven features predictable, auditable, and reliable in safety-critical MedTech environments.
Real ownership – Own major parts of our platform and drive architectural decisions across backend services, workflows, and data.
AI‑agent‑first development – Build in an environment where tools like Cursor and Claude Code are first‑class citizens, helping you explore designs, refactor, and ship faster while you stay in control of quality and reliability.
Strong peers – Work with people who care deeply about craft and outcomes, in a high-ownership culture that includes teammates with founder experience.
Work with leading MedTech companies – Build products used by teams at BBraun, Novartis & Bayer.
