Digital Editor, Live Markets (Editorial)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Globe and Mail is hiring a digital editor towork onlivemarkets coverage, delivering fast,authoritative and insightful updates that help investors navigate market moves throughout the trading day.

This role will editand contribute to live blog entries,frequently write engagingheadlines andgenerally ensure livemarketscoveragemeetsthe needs of our highly engaged community of Globe Investor readers.

We are looking for a curious editor with solid news judgement whois collaborative and brings an entrepreneurial spirit to their work

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure we are fast and best on markets coverage 
• Edit and post live blog entries in multiple formats and contribute your own entries to complement coverage 
• Write SEO-friendly, engaging headlines, decks, captions and other display copy 
• Monitor financial data and wire sources for relevant news  
• Solicit contributions from beat reporters to enrich the live blog as appropriate 
• Collaborate with colleagues in editorial and product on improvements to live blog format, functionality and design 
• Use audience analytics to spot opportunities and inform decisions 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least three years experience working in digital news media 
• Solid news judgment with demonstrated understanding of markets and financial coverage 
• Strong headline writing and story editing skills 
• Familiarity with what makes a rich digital storytelling experience 
• Clear communicator and excellent multitasker 
• Avid news consumer 
• Experience using audience analytics tools to understand trends  
• Experience using real-time financial data sources, such as the Bloomberg Terminal 
• Ability to use data visualization tools to create stock charts and other graphics 

This position is based in the Toronto office and requires a minimum of two days a week in office.
