Reporter, Live Markets (Editorial)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Globe and Mail is hiring areporter to lead our livemarkets coverage, delivering fast,authoritative and insightful updatesthat help investors navigate market moves throughout the trading day.This individual would be the principal writer for our daily markets blog,offering context and analysis to serve our highly engaged community of Globe Investor readers.This individual wouldbe responsible for tailoring our coverage over time to reflect theinterests of our audience, creating market coverage thatis unique and stands out in a highly competitive area of coverage.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead writer for daily live blog on weekdays 
• Break news and offer exclusive insights that distinguish our live markets coverage 
• Monitor financial data and wire sources for relevant news  
• Solicit contributions from beat reporters to enrich the live blog as appropriate 
• Collaborate with colleagues in editorial and product on improvements to live blog format, functionality and design 
• Utilize audience feedback and metrics to guide coverage 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 5 years of experience writing on investing or financial markets 
• Ability to write quickly and clearly on complex financial topics  
• Experience using audience analytics tools to understand trends  
• Experience using real-time financial data sources, such as the Bloomberg Terminal 
• Ability to use data visualization tools to create stock charts and other graphics 

This position is based in the Toronto office and requires a minimum of two days a week in office.
