PrePress Operator

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Facilitate the output of pages – prioritizing where necessary to assure on-time performance.
2. Check pages against press layout, color positions and split run notices.
3. Communicate with Advertising, Editorial, Production and Circulation Divisions to meet deadlines and assure the highest possible quality.
4. Observe input spoolers, Rips, and Output to Imagesetters to prevent backups to workflow or delays caused by fluctuations in traffic to the devices.
5. Coordinate workflow to maintain timely flow of pages to Pressroom.
6. Make final PrePress review of pages, assuring all elements flow to page and are present.
7. Record, as necessary, the pages ready to be plated.
8. Maintain PrePress equipment.
9. Work closely with Newsroom and Advertising personnel to achieve quality output of pages and meet deadlines.
10. Be proficient in all PrePress functions – Make-up, Page output, plate-making, and equipment maintenance.
