We’re currently hiring aPart-Time Food Service Assistant I to join ourFood & Nutrition Services team at ourNewark campus. If you’re reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about making a difference, we’d love to meet you!
Your Schedule
This is arotating part-time position with shifts scheduled between6:30 AM and 9:30 PM. Candidatesmust be available to work a combination of all the following shifts:
- 6:30am - 3:00pm
- 10:30am - 6:00pm
- 3:00pm - 9:00pm
Every other weekend and holiday rotations are required. Shift times may vary based on departmental needs.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble patient meal trays with care and accuracy, following dietary guidelines.
- Prepare trays for modified diets (e.g., pureed foods, thickened liquids).
- Operate dish machines and maintain sanitation stations.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in all kitchen areas.
- Monitor equipment temperatures and sanitation levels.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper food storage and glove use.

What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform tasks like standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
