What this role is all about

As aJunior Network Engineer you'll join a network engineering team supporting carrier and enterprise customers, working closely with colleagues based in the US and Croatia. As part of this team, you'll be the last line of technical support, receiving escalations from support and monitoring teams and working through them to resolution. This is a junior-level opportunity designed to help you build hands-on experience with large-scale carrier networks, with senior team members available to support you as you grow into more complex engineering work.

What you'll do

• Implement custom network solutions for carrier and enterprise customers.
• Act as an escalation contact for the Network Operations group, troubleshooting issues for customers and the network they connect to.
• Assist with the design, engineering, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the company's nationwide IP/MPLS backbone.
• Assist with the design, engineering, planning, implementation, and maintenance of local fiber, access networks, and DCS systems across major markets.
• Support the design, engineering, planning, and implementation of new sites and market launches.
• Develop and document processes and solutions for internal distribution and cross-team training.
• Assist with the automation of network-related processes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (outside of standard business hours) once comfortable within the environment.

What makes you a strong fit

• At least 1 year of experience in a networking role, or a technical support/call center background with a desire to move into network engineering.
• Hands-on experience with IOS, IOS XR, or Junos, including switch and router configuration and management from the command line.
• Working knowledge of IP, MPLS, BGP, and Ethernet fundamentals.
• Comfortable working and communicating with a remote, cross-regional team.
• Ownership mindset, patience, and follow-through, comfortable taking an assigned issue all the way to resolution.
• Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Experience supporting carrier or enterprise VoIP and data services.
• Familiarity with network security fundamentals, IPv6, or recent MEF/IEEE Ethernet standards.
• Exposure to Python or shell scripting.
• Experience with monitoring/surveillance systems (e.g., NMIS, CheckMK, Nagios), configuration management tools (e.g., Saltstack), or automation frameworks (e.g., Nornir, Ansible, StackStorm).
• Familiarity with workflow tools (e.g., Salesforce, PagerDuty, Wrike, Trello, Slack, MS Teams) or data visualization tools (e.g., RRD/Cacti, Graphite/Grafana).
• Cisco or Juniper certifications, or a bachelor's degree in a related field (in progress is fine).
