Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive FM Engineer โ Aviation Facilities to oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of aircraft hangars and associated aviation infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all building, MEP, and critical aviation supportsystems operate reliably, safely, and in compliance with aviation regulations and international facility management standards. This role requires extensive experience in managing mission-critical facilities, minimizing operational downtime, and maintaining high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and asset integrity within an aircraft maintenance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of aircraft hangars and associated aviation facilities.
Oversee all MEP systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, drainage, ELV, and building automation systems.
Ensure continuous operation of critical infrastructure supporting aircraft maintenance activities.
Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with asset management strategies and OEM recommendations.
Conduct routine inspections and technical audits of hangar facilities, workshops, technical spaces, and support buildings.
Ensure the operational readiness and reliability of emergency power systems including generators, UPS systems, and emergency lighting.
Maintain and optimize fire protection systems including foam suppression systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, hydrants, smoke extraction, and fire alarm systems in compliance with aviation fire safety requirements.
Coordinate and supervise specialist contractors, OEM service providers, and subcontractors performing works within airside and landside facilities.
Ensure all maintenance activities are executed in accordance with approved Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Permit-to-Work systems, and Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
Manage CMMS/CAFM systems to track asset performance, work orders, lifecycle data, and maintenance KPIs.
Analyze equipment performance trends and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives to improve asset uptime and operational efficiency.
Support energy optimization, sustainability initiatives, and carbon reduction programs across aviation facilities.
Ensure strict compliance with aviation safety regulations, HSE requirements, and international FM standards.
Investigate technical failures, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Prepare technical reports, maintenance documentation, performance dashboards, and monthly operational reports.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or equivalent.
Minimum 5โ8 years of experience in Facilities Management, Building Services, or Aviation Facilities Operations.
Minimum 3 years of experience managing aircraft hangars, airport facilities or other mission-critical environments is highly preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of:
HVAC systems
Electrical LV systems
ELV systems
Building Management Systems (BMS)
Fire & Life Safety Systems
Experience in operating and maintaining large-span aircraft hangars and specialized aviation infrastructure.
Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Asset Lifecycle Management, and Predictive Maintenance methodologies.
Proficiency in CMMS/CAFM platforms such as IBM Maximo, SAP PM, Planon, Archibus, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of international standards and best practices including :
ISO 41001 โ Facility Management Systems
ISO 55001 โ Asset Management
ISO 45001 โ Occupational Health & Safety
NFPA Standards
ICAO safety requirements
EASA/FAA maintenance environment requirements
Familiarity with Airside Safety Rules, Permit-to-Work systems, and airport operational procedures.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated operational environment.
UAE/GCC aviation or airport FM experience will be an added advantage.
