Fleet Manager

Position Summary:

Manage a team of 35- 45 drivers, engage with drivers individually to drive maximum utilization, best in class service numbers, and the highest level of safety.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Manage driver fleet to ensure safety is always first, by completing safety coaching's and training on time and understand safety requirements. 
• Driver engagement, being the one stop shop for your drivers for all issues and concerns. 
• Advocating for your drivers across departments, be their voice with all teams to support driver satisfaction while be a good steward of Dart.
• Work with planning team to drive best utilization of your fleet, driving miles and revenue.
• Manage driver fleet expectations to ensure best in class service numbers.
• Manage driver fleet to meet driver activity, utilization, and retention goals.
• Work collaboratively with other departments within the network 

Driver Engagement

• Being one stop shop for drivers
• Get to know your drivers
• Be there for drivers when they need you to resolve issues
• Be an advocate for your driver and their success within Dart.

Being a good steward of Dart

• Following Dart Policies
• Making good decisions on Dart’s behalf

Utilization

• Ensure drivers are planned to have hours fully utilized.
• Ensure drivers have accurate load data to prevent delays.
• Work issues quickly to keep drivers moving.

Service

• Provide Accurate ETA’s on driver pick up and deliveries
• Report and work any service issues with customer service and planning teams

Safety

• Ensure drivers meet HOS requirements
• Complete HOS coaching daily
• Randoms completed by the 20th of every month
• Performance entries are completed on time
• Safety coaching and training is completed on time.
• Understand customer procedures with haz-mat, overweight, claims, cargo, and security.

Activity

• Complete the AM & PM check call process thoroughly and on time daily – with 3 hours of scheduled start time for AM CC’s and complete PM CC’s before leaving for the day.
• 78% active rate for the year
• Average miles per seated truck - 390 miles per day – 2130 miles per week/per year

Retention

• Turnover:
  • Company Fleets 80%
  • IC - Lease 80%
  • IC – Non-Lease 80%
• Work the driver facts report daily
• Work hound comments from Driver Engagement Team – respond and take action on driver retention issues (on FM related issues or items the FM can support)

• Duties may change at the discretion of management; other duties may be assigned as necessary.
• Active Percent, Miles per day/year, deadlines may change based on current years budget plan.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• 4-year College Degree and/or previous transportation experience preferred.
• Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and be detail oriented.
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent driver engagement, listening, and communications skills
