Position Overview:Â
As a Firmware Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies, complex test setups, and automated validation frameworks for Echo’s medical devices. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of embedded systems by creating high-quality test infrastructures and collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the full product development life cycle.Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
- Understand product requirements, design inputs, and system architectural needs, and translate them into firmware test needsÂ
- Design and develop unit tests, integration tests, and system-level tests for a cutting-edge medical deviceÂ
- Architect and execute verification and validation (V&V) processesÂ
- Develop automated test scripts in Python for firmware and hardware validationÂ
- Collaborate with electrical, hardware, and software engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverageÂ
- Create documents describing test architectures and methodologiesÂ
Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fieldÂ
- Deep understanding of medical device development processes, including V&V, design controls, risk management, and regulatory complianceÂ
- 5+ years of experience in V&V execution, script-driven firmware testing, and automated test developmentÂ
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams and time zones, demonstrating critical thinking and technical leadershipÂ
Required Skills:Â
- Experience with design and implementation of test plans for verification and validation in compliance with FDA development standardsÂ
- Strong proficiency in PythonÂ
- Python-based automated test frameworks for embedded firmwareÂ
- Experience with HIL (hardware-in-loop) test setups and automationÂ
- Experience with CI/CD processes for automation and version releasesÂ
- Linux-based testing rigsÂ
- Proficiency with Git for software version controlÂ
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzersÂ
- Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and software layersÂ
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, and other communication protocolsÂ
- Ability to understand PCB schematicsÂ
- Experience with IoT devicesÂ
