- Design and Implementation: Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of cloud-based computer systems, networks, and information.
- Firewall Management: Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure, with a focus on AWS Network Firewall and Akamai Cloud Firewall/WAF solutions. This includes managing firewall rule sets, network address translation (NAT), and access control lists (ACLs).
- Cloud Security (AWS): Implement and manage security controls within the AWS ecosystem, utilizing services such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM, and Security Groups to ensure compliance and data protection.
- Edge Security (Akamai): Manage Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF) and DDoS protection to secure internet-facing web applications and APIs from various threats, including SQL injection and bot attacks.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and testing to identify system and network weaknesses, recommending and implementing remediation strategies.
- Incident Response: Monitor security alerts and events, analyze logs, and respond to security incidents in a timely manner, collaborating with incident response teams to investigate and mitigate threats.
- Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain detailed documentation for security configurations, policies, and procedures, ensuring all actions adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Proven experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or in a related network security role.
- Hands-on experience with security systems including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and log management (SIEM).
- In-depth technical knowledge of AWS security services and architecture.
- Experience with Akamai security solutions (WAF, Kona Site Defender, App & API Protector, or similar) and content delivery network (CDN) principles.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, etc.) and web-related technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
