JOB OVERVIEW

Provide services and support as a Fire Inspector [Navy | NIWC Fire Protection Engineer Services and Support] aligned with the Existing Facility Fire and Life Safety Evaluation Functional Area / Swim Lane / Category Discipline in the Defense and National Security (derived classification) Industry Sector. 

This role focusses on Engineering; Compliance; Risk Management (derived ProSidian alignment) Solutions for clients such as U.S. Department of the Navy, Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (Navy / NIWC Atlantic) | NIWC Atlantic, Department of the Navy; GSA Federal Acquisition Service conducts MRAS. Generally Located In Vandenberg Space Force Base, near Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California and across the California Central Coast; Western United States; North America Region (Of Country/World) Hybrid – On/Off Client Site and Virtual.

Deivering mission-critical fire protection engineering, risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and safety solutions safeguarding Navy installations.  Assessing existing facility fire safety conditions, documenting deficiencies, and supporting prioritized corrective actions for NIWC.  The Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic is the U.S. Navy organization seeking fire protection engineering support for facilities in South Carolina, Virginia, and other CONUS locations.   Requirement Status: Conditional explicit function; separate role inferred | Coverage: Measurement, evaluation, compliance, operations

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES -Fire Inspector | Existing Facility Fire and Life Safety Evaluation [P1NIWC013]

  • Provide Defense and National Security (derived classification) Sector related Hybrid – On/Off Client Site and Virtual Engineering Services for Navy | NIWC Fire Protection Engineer Services and Support as a Labor Category: Junior Consultant with activities generally located California Central Coast; Western United States; North America | California Central Coast; Western United States; North America Vandenberg Space Force Base, near Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California.
  • When existing-facility work is tasked, collect observations on life safety and fire protection conditions. Compare conditions with approved criteria and report deficiencies to the lead engineer. Support follow-up evaluations.

Desired Qualifications ForFire Inspector | Existing Facility Fire and Life Safety Evaluation [P1NIWC013] Candidates:

Facility fire inspection and code-application experience. Applicable fire inspector certification is desirable. Does not replace QFPE credentials.

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

Fire science, fire protection or related technical education and inspection experience recommended; PWS sets no diploma, degree or years. Historical candidate minimum: bachelor’s degree and 10 years; verify current terms.

Facility fire inspection and code-application experience. Applicable fire inspector certification is desirable. Does not replace QFPE credentials.

Skills Required

  • Primarily focused on Engineering Services initiatives and aligned with Program Support activities Existing Facility Fire and Life Safety Evaluation Functional Area Activities. 
  • Site observation, egress assessment, fire protection system recognition, photographs, checklists, deficiency documentation.

Competencies Required

  • Observational accuracy, safe site conduct, objective reporting, risk awareness, coordination with facility personnel.

Ancillary Details Of The Roles

  • Measurement: document observed conditions and evidence. Quantitative testing only if separately defined and authorized.
  • Inspection frequency, system-testing scope, access and corrective-action acceptance remain TBD.

Conditional: PWS says existing-facility activities may be included. Routine system maintenance, repairs and testing are not expressly required.
