Chapman Tripp’s national Financial Services practice is looking for an intermediate to senior lawyer to join its high-performing financial services team working on a wide range of significant matters for prestigious financial and corporate sector clients.
Ideally you will have large law firm experience, or relevant in-house or regulator experience, with exposure to financial services, investment funds, securities law or insurance law. We are also open to candidates who have a primary background in corporate, finance, tax or litigation and who wish to further develop expertise in financial services laws.Â
As the successful candidate, you will work directly with our national team of New Zealand's leading financial services practitioners, advising clients on the full range of financial services laws for local and international clients, including:
- Advising innovative fintechs and traditional players in the sector on topical regulatory issues (including the increasing relevance of AI and blockchain)
- Advising on the financial services regulatory aspects of high-profile transactions in the financial services sector
- Advising banks, insurers, KiwiSaver and other managed investment schemes, financial advisers, payment service providers, investment platforms and derivatives issuers on the development of new financial products and services
- Contributing to the team's thought leadership and market commentary
If you are a talented lawyer with ideally 4 to 10+ years’ PQE, wanting a step up or a new challenge, we believe we have the best team, work, culture and opportunity to develop your career.
What we offer:
- Office base in Wellington or Auckland
- Top-tier national and international clients and work
- Career acceleration - structured training, mentoring, and clear development pathways
- Inclusive, values-led culture - guided by integrity, collaboration, curiosity, respect and excellence
- Wellbeing & benefits – health insurance, annual wellbeing allowance, extra leave
- Groups and activities to suit your interests - sports, arts & culture, regular team and firm events for connection
We are a collaborative workplace of smart, passionate and hardworking people, united by a commitment to excellence. Work for one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest legal partnerships and enjoy a firm which has the resources and structures in place for you to do your best work; as well as people who are caring, inclusive and authentic.
