Financial Accountant

Job Summary:

Schmitt Music is seeking a full time Financial Accountant for our Bloomington, MN location.This Financial Accountant position will perform general accounting functions including reconciliations, allocations, accruals, analyses and journal entries to effectively close our monthly financial books. Additionally, this position will gather, compile and present data for internal use and external audits.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform daily accounting tasks
• Assist in month end financial closings

• Reconcile major general ledger accounts
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately
• Familiarity with sales tax filings
• Create, maintain and manipulate data using Microsoft Excel.
• Gathering documentation for audits
• Assist with other projects as needed

Work Environment:

This position operates in an office setting and operates normal office equipment including computers, copiers, telephones and filing systems.Retail and office-type working conditions.  The responsibilities of this position may frequently require using hands, arms and talking or hearing. This position may often involve standing, walking and sitting. This position may sometimes involve climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This position is a full-time day position.  Typical workdays are Monday through Friday with occasional weekend projects.  Daily hours are flexible.  Full-time status is a minimum of 37 hours per week.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Accounting degree or equivalent work experience
• Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with month end and year end responsibilities
• An aptitude for mastering computer systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and basic accounting principles knowledge
• Accurate and efficient work habits
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. 
• Interact with employees in a professional manner
• Well organized and a self-starter
• Desire to be a member of a supportive team and company.
