Position Summary: 

The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), an AACSB-accredited institution, invites applications for a full-time, temporary non-tenure track position in Finance to begin in January 2027. This is a one semester appointment. Applicants must hold a doctorate in Finance or Real Estate or Insurance & Risk Management.Doctoral degrees outside these disciplines will not be considered. ABDs will be considered but must provide strong evidence that the degree will be completed prior to position start. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching, research, and/or industry experience in finance, real estate, insurance & risk management areas that align with departmental strategic goals. 
The ideal candidate will demonstrate teaching excellence, an active research agenda consistent with AACSB scholarly academic (SA) qualifications, and the ability to contribute to service at the department, college, and university levels. Prior professional business experience in finance, real estate, or insurance & risk management is highly valued and strongly preferred. Faculty are employed by the university to teach and are expected to publish research and perform service. This position teaches and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities consistent with applicable university and College of Business faculty policies. 

Department Overview: 

The Department of Finance includes 10 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate majors in Business Law, Finance, Insurance & Risk Management, and Real Estate. Minors include Banking, Financial Planning, Insurance & Risk Management, and Real Estate. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science in Finance and contributes to the curriculum of the UCO MBA and MSBA programs. The department supports the Actuary, Insurance, and Risk Management Club, the Finance Club, the Real Estate Club, and Pre-Law Society Club. It also manages a Student Investment Fund and hosts events such as the UCO Commercial Real Estate Summit. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Finance, using a transformative and applied learning approach. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda that meets AACSB scholarly academic (SA) standards and to participate in curriculum development and assessment activities. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, university, and professional communities, mentoring students, and contributing to student engagement through co-curricular activities. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester (4/4). Courses may be delivered in face-to-face and asynchronous online formats. 

Required Qualifications: 

A doctorate in Finance or Real Estate or Insurance & Risk Management.Doctoral degrees outside these disciplines will NOT be considered. ABD candidates must have a scheduled dissertation defense date prior to the employment start date. **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the employment start date, the position rank will change to Instructor. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to meet Scholarly Academic (SA) qualifications under AACSB standards and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level. Appointment rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and record of teaching, scholarship, professional experience, and service, consistent with the applicable university policies. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Teaching and/or professional industry experience in finance, real estate, or insurance & risk management is preferred. Candidates with professional business experience or leadership in business, government, or professional associations will receive strong consideration.
