What We Do
SteadyState Work Partners is a human capital consulting firm specializing in human capital risk mitigation.
Our proprietary TAU Coreâ„¢ intervention is delivered through structured experiences in changing natural environments. Participants work in small cohorts while SteadyState facilitators lead the intervention.
The Field Operations Safety Lead makes that work possible by owning environmental and participant safety in the field.
The Role
This is asafety role—not a facilitation role.
Your attention stays on the environment, changing conditions, participants, and anything that could create unnecessary risk.
You will work alongside the Lead TAU Facilitator during field sessions while maintaining independent responsibility for field safety.
TAU Coreâ„¢ is delivered in cohorts of up to five participants. Field sessions occur primarily during morning hours in natural terrain in the Austin/Central Texas area.
Core Responsibilities
Environmental Hazard Assessment & Control
Assess field conditions before and during sessions.
Identify terrain, weather, wildlife, vegetation, and other environmental hazards.
Continuously monitor conditions as participants move through the environment.
Recommend route modification, delay, relocation, or termination when conditions warrant it.
Maintain awareness of emergency access and evacuation options.
Wildlife & Environmental Emergency Response
Maintain awareness of wildlife activity and changing environmental conditions.
Respond appropriately to wildlife encounters and environmental emergencies.
Provide immediate first-aid response within the scope of your training.
Escalate to emergency services when necessary.
Maintain readiness without creating unnecessary alarm.
Participant Safety Oversight
Maintain awareness of participants throughout field activity.
Watch for physical or environmental safety concerns.
Intervene when an immediate safety issue requires it.
Support safe movement through changing terrain.
Maintain participant confidentiality.
Field Operations Support
Complete pre-session safety checks.
Verify required safety and emergency equipment.
Maintain field readiness throughout each session.
Document safety incidents, hazards, and relevant field observations.
Participate in post-session safety review when needed.
What You Will Not Do
You willnot:
Facilitate TAU Coreâ„¢.
Coach participants.
Teach the intervention.
Interpret participant reactions.
Direct the participant experience unless immediate safety requires intervention.
Become the focus of the field environment.
The facilitator owns the intervention.
You own field safety.
Required Qualifications
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and absolute discretion in a high-trust environment is a must (non-negotiable)
Demonstrated comfort operating in wooded, trail-based, or other natural environments.
Strong situational awareness and observational skills.
Ability to identify common environmental hazards.
Ability to make sound decisions independently as conditions change.
Ability to remain composed during wildlife encounters and environmental emergencies.
Ability to communicate clearly and intervene decisively when safety requires it.
Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain it before first assignment.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to field locations in the Austin/Central Texas area.
Preferred Backgrounds
Experience in one or more of the following:
Wilderness First Aid (WFA)
Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
Search and Rescue
Emergency Medical Services
Military field operations
Wildland fire operations
Park or natural-resource operations
Outdoor education
Field safety
Environmental or occupational safety
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
Walk and hike for extended periods over uneven natural terrain.
Work outdoors in changing Central Texas weather conditions.
Navigate inclines, loose surfaces, rocks, vegetation, and other natural terrain.
Carry required field and emergency equipment.
Remain outdoors for the duration of field assignments.
Respond quickly when field conditions require intervention.

Compensation & Assignment Structure
This is apart-time, assignment-based position supporting scheduled TAU Coreâ„¢ field delivery.
Compensation: $50 per hour
Assignments are scheduled in advance. Field work occurs primarily during morning hours, with scheduling based on program delivery.
Where You Will Work
Field assignments take place in natural environments in theAustin/Central Texas area.
Locations may vary based on program requirements and approved field sites.
This is not a desk-based safety position.
Selection Process
Qualified candidates may be invited to:
An Initial Conversation.
A structured Final Interview focused on field judgment, safety experience, and decision-making.
The selection process may also include a field-based evaluation and verification of applicable credentials. Any required background screening or other pre-assignment requirements will be completed before field work begins.
