Job Summary –

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the direct supervision of the OTR/L Supervisor, assists with the occupational therapy, screening, assessmenttreatment of patients in individual and group settings. The COTA will also assist withdaily responsibilities of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program.

Qualifications 

Minimum Education/Experience:  

  • Graduate from an accredited certified occupational therapy program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience inpsychiatric occupational therapy setting.

Minimum skills/abilities: 

  • Must be certified in CPR or become certified in CPR within one year of employment.

Certification/Licensure: 

  • Must be registered and eligible in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Job Responsibilities

  • "Provides superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers,
  • and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards."
  • Maintains proper, accurate and timely records of treatment, progress and discharge summaries’.
  • Plans and directs groups in the patient milieu as directed bySupervisor.Plans 1:1 interventional activity to meet the need as directed bySupervisor.
  • Participates in teammeeting as scheduledon the unit.
  • Communicates with medical staff and other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Assists with the assessment of the quality and appropriateness of care in accordance withHospital Performance.

Improvement plan

  • Assists in gathering data to be used in assessments under the direction of OTR/L.
  • Complete daily charges identified indepartment policy and procedure manual.
  • Expands qualifications by participating in advancement throughown professional development organization, educational opportunities offered by the hospital or instruction for other educationalprogram.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient diagnosis, precaution and medications for treatment though consultation of medical records and communication with other team members.
  • Engages inproblem solving process in familiar and unfamiliar situations seeking Supervisor's support appropriately.
  • Adjusts tofluctuating needs of patients, families, theDepartment andhospital.
  • Plans and organizes treatment foradult acute psychiatric population with varyingdiagnosis. 

Compensation Range:

$23.96- $35.61
