PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:Family Learning Center (FLC)TITLE:Ā Family Educator
CLASSIFICATION:Ā Full-Time (37.50 hours per week), Non-exempt, Hourly: $24.46
Position Summary:Ā Join our Family Educator team and become a vital part of a caring, culturally responsive support network dedicated to mothers, fathers and caregivers with children aged 17 and under. In this direct-service position, youāll be trained and accredited to deliver proven, evidence-based curricula ā empowering parents and caregivers by improving parenting confidence, supporting them through increasing their knowledge of child development and helping them reconnect with their children. This position is responsible for the delivery and instruction of the Nurturing Parenting curricula, child development education support and developmentally appropriate activities for families with children and reports to the Family Learning Center Program Manager.Ā
Position location: Family Learning Center (Located at Ibis Behavioral Health) 4422 E. Columbus Dr., Tampa, FL 33605 and 3107 N. 50th Street, Suite B, Tampa, FL 33619
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ā ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Ā
1. Plan and deliver parent-child visitation groups, support groups, reflective groups. Facilitate the Nurturing Parenting program according to program guidelines. This would include but not be limited to:Ā
⢠planning for groups
 ⢠preparing for groups
 ⢠providing a warm and welcoming environment for participants
⢠facilitating the group experience in line with program expectations
 ⢠cleaning up after group
Ā 2. Coordinate developmental assessment collections as described by the funder
3. Organize & maintain education and program supplies for efficient access and inventory control.
4. Maintain accurate and timely records.Ā
5. Attend staff meetings, on-going in-service training, and reflective supervision as required.Ā
6. Complete accurate and timely data collection to complete reporting requirements and support programās compliance to contract, grant, accreditation, and agency requirements.
Ā 7. Cultivate and manage collaborative relationships with other serving agencies which may include presentations, participation with Cove Behavioral Health community events, special projects, and attending meetings as a representative of the Family Learning Center.
Ā 8. Participate on appropriate agency, department, and community planning teams.Ā
9. Performs other duties as assigned.Ā
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:Ā
1. A minimum of a bachelorās degree in social/behavioral sciences, education, or related field.
Ā 2. At least three years of relevant experience.Ā
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Ā
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., non-judgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful).
Ā 5. Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
Ā 6. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 pounds on a regular basis; infrequently move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Ā 7. Some travel around Hillsborough County required.
Ā 8. Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the population that Champions for Children serves.Ā
9. Must have reliable vehicle, active auto insurance, and a valid Florida driverās license.
Ā 10. Must successfully complete a Florida level 2 criminal background clearance, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
Ā 11. Ability to work during non-traditional hours: Tuesday to Saturday schedule, some possible evening hours
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Ā
PAY RATE - $24.46 per hourĀ
HOLIDAYS ā Eligible Employees: PT/FT 25 hours and above
Champions grants 16 paid holidays each year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Mindfulness Monday (3/13), Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the day following, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a Birthday Holiday, and 3 Floating Holidays (prorated for new employees).
PAID TIME OFF - Eligible Employees: PT/FT 25 hours and above
15 days per year. PTO benefits increase on the 2nd, 5th, and 10th work anniversaries.
