Virtual Construction - Senior ManagerJob Description:
Â
Every day, our team members do amazing things in pursuit of our shared purpose to build trust with our clients, partners, subcontractors, and teammates. No matter your background, education, or career path, if you share our vision to create extraordinary experiences, you belong at HITT.Â
Lead Virtual Construction at ScaleÂ
As Virtual Construction Senior Manager, you'll lead multiple functions within our Virtual Construction department—BIM coordination and clash detection, 4D sequencing and animation, and model-based quality control—turning virtual construction from a project service into a competitive advantage that shapes how our teams plan, coordinate, and execute.Â
This is a leadership role with real reach. You'll lead a team that includes Managers who own their own functions, prioritizing how time, people, and budget are allocated across concurrent projects to maximize efficiency. You'll implement the SOPs and BIM Execution Plans that govern coordination, sequencing, and quality across every project, and partner directly with clients, designers, engineers, trade partners, and HITT Operations to resolve conflicts before they reach the field. You'll also evaluate emerging tools and workflows, recommend what's worth adopting, and put the winners into practice.
Position OverviewÂ
The Virtual Construction Senior Manager will lead the integration of virtual construction methodologies into project delivery, providing oversight and leadership across multiple functions—BIM coordination and clash detection, 4D sequencing and animation, and model-based quality control. This role pairs complex problem solving with resource management: prioritizing the allocation of time, people, and budget across concurrent projects and functions to maximize efficiency.Â
Department-wide SOPs and BIM Execution Plans governing coordination, sequencing, and animation workflowsÂ
Resource and staffing plans allocating team capacity across concurrent projects and functionsÂ
Federated coordination models and clash resolution strategies across architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty contractor disciplinesÂ
4D construction sequencing simulations and logistics animations tied to project schedulesÂ
Schedule analysis identifying optimization opportunities and constructability riskÂ
Quality control protocols and model audits verifying accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirementsÂ
VDC scope plans covering schedule, staffing, and budget for each assigned projectÂ
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Process ImprovementÂ
Provide strategic leadership for the virtual construction practice, aligned with company goals and industry best practicesÂ
Lead the integration of virtual construction methodologies into project delivery—including BIM coordination and clash detection, animation and sequencing, and quality controlÂ
Enhance and implement standard operating procedures and best practices, including BIM Execution Plans, to ensure consistent execution of BIM coordination and animation workflowsÂ
Identify areas of improvement within the team and across the organization, modifying department processes and procedures to maximize efficiencyÂ
Take on complex work that impacts multiple functions and departments, demonstrating agility in decision making and prioritizing the best interest of the businessÂ
Evaluate, recommend, and implement emerging tools, industry best practices, and trends—building the business case for adoption and scaling what proves outÂ
Uphold corporate policies and audit compliance across the functionÂ
Prepare communications and training on process changes affecting virtual construction workflowsÂ
Resource & Budget ManagementÂ
Manage multiple projects concurrently across a variety of functions—determining schedule, staffing, and budget for VDC scope on eachÂ
Prioritize the allocation of time, resources, and budget across projects and functions to maximize efficiencyÂ
Manage workload and delegate tasks effectively across functions, putting the right people on the right workÂ
Manage the department budget to ensure appropriate spendingÂ
Team Leadership & DevelopmentÂ
Lead a team of Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers through project tasks, providing mentorship and growth opportunitiesÂ
Empower and develop current and future Managers to effectively support their teamsÂ
Ensure Managers are working with their team members on development opportunities through multiple touch pointsÂ
Assess and identify team members' strengths and abilities; provide relevant and timely feedback on an ongoing basisÂ
Recommend succession planning and organizational structure across the departmentÂ
Encourage engagement and open communication to create a safe and inclusive work environment; resolve internal conflicts and partner with HR as neededÂ
Serve as the internal authority on BIM and VDC best practices, providing training and technical support to broader project teamsÂ
Build bench strength through recruiting, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing across the departmentÂ
BIM Coordination & Model ManagementÂ
Utilize advanced BIM software and technologies to coordinate detailed virtual models of project designs, including architectural, structural, and MEP systemsÂ
Own coordination outcomes on the most complex and highest-risk projects in the portfolioÂ
Proactively manage model-based conflicts, driving resolution before issues reach the fieldÂ
Direct model integration strategy across design teams, trade partners, and specialty contractorsÂ
4D Sequencing & Schedule OptimizationÂ
Work closely with project teams to develop 4D construction sequencing simulations based on virtual modelsÂ
Analyze construction schedules to identify opportunities for schedule optimization and risk mitigationÂ
Translate means-and-methods knowledge into visual narratives that non-technical audiences immediately understandÂ
Support site logistics planning, phasing studies, and interim milestone visualizationÂ
Quality Control & StandardsÂ
Establish quality control procedures for virtual construction deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirementsÂ
Conduct regular reviews of virtual models and project documentation to verify adherence to established standardsÂ
Define quality benchmarks and audit cadence across all active projectsÂ
Drive continuous improvement of the internal VDC playbook based on lessons learnedÂ
Stakeholder Engagement & CollaborationÂ
Communicate coordination issues and interact with clients, architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and HITT project teams to foster a collaborative environmentÂ
Run effective meetings—facilitating dialogue, determining objectives, and assigning action itemsÂ
Tailor communications to the needs of the stakeholder; recognize risk and elevate issues in a timely mannerÂ
Exhibit tact in advising clients through difficult conversations while maintaining the relationshipÂ
Partner with HITT Operations and Preconstruction to align VDC scope with project requirements and pursuit timelinesÂ
Guide direct reports in building and leveraging internal relationships across the organizationÂ
Present virtual construction capabilities in interviews, owner meetings, and industry eventsÂ
Represent HITT through active participation in relevant professional organizationsÂ
Required QualificationsÂ
8–10 years of dedicated virtual design and construction experienceÂ

Experience allocating staffing and managing budget across multiple concurrent projectsÂ
Proven track record of successfully implementing virtual construction strategies on complex projectsÂ
Deep, current working knowledge of BIM tools and VDC processes, maintained through active practice rather than oversight aloneÂ
Working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk Forma, Synchro Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeÂ
Proficiency in understanding construction documents, shop drawings, and other design communication toolsÂ
Experience developing and enforcing BIM Execution Plans and department-level standardsÂ
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead external stakeholders through complex coordination decisionsÂ
Passion for learning and adoption of new technologyÂ
A four-year degree from an accredited university in a relevant field (Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, Architecture) is preferred but not required; in lieu of a degree, additional applicable work experience is acceptableÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
Experience leading managers or team leads who own their own functionsÂ
Active membership and leadership in appropriate professional organizationsÂ
Experience with advanced AI-driven VDC workflows and automation toolsÂ
Programming/scripting skills (Python, Dynamo) for automation and custom workflowsÂ
CM Builder (CadMakers) or equivalent experience for 4D scheduling and visualizationÂ
Familiarity with reality capture and scan-to-model verification workflowsÂ
Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Digital Twin development, or similar real-time 3D collaboration platformsÂ
Experience supporting large-scale or technically complex projects (data centers, healthcare, aviation, advanced manufacturing)Â
