Instruct various courses in the OPOTA Basic Police Academy curriculum. This position requires classroom or online instruction in the discipline, including preparing syllabi and lesson plans,assessing and evaluating student performance, keepingaccurate records and reportinginformation as necessary.Â
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Â
Knowledge of specific topic to be taught in theacademy.Possess specific knowledge and skills in specific areas in which they will instruct (ie.firearms,driving, subject control, ADAP,etc) Mustmaintain any updates required by OPOTA. Provide students with unit student performanceobjectives and any skilled performanceobjectives as required by OPOTA.Â
Must be proficient with skills in specific areas of the OPOTA curriculum in which they will instruct (ie.firearms,driving, subject control, ADAP,etc) Must be able to present effective verbal instruction anddemonstrate tostudents in the skilled student performanceobjectives .Â
Must show andmaintain competence in the specific OPOTA topic(s) in which they will instruct. Be able to recognize andassist students with any weaknesses during OPOTA topic instruction. Will be able toassist with student worksheets in the specific OPOTA topic(s) in which they will instruct.Â
Essential Functions:Â

Minimum Education/Experience:Â
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)Â
5 years minimum experience as afull time law enforcement officer.Â
