Job Description

The F-35 Site Activation Logistics Engineer (Logistics Engineer Principal) candidate is responsible for providing “cradle-to-grave” Logistics and Site Readiness Subject Matter Expertise to support US DoW Services and international customers in support of F-35 Air System site stand-up.

The selected candidate will engage with the customer/warfighter by visiting prospective F-35 sites and/or interacting on collaboration platforms (e.g. MS Teams) to:
  • Evaluate and verify the capability of existing aircraft maintenance and logistics infrastructure to support F-35 operations
  • Provide recommendations and solutions on facilities and concept of operations if deficiencies exist
  • Author technical reports capturing pertinent logistics/site readiness information
  • Provide F-35 Logistics Subject Matter Expertise in direct support of Site Activation and Site Readiness execution and integration.
  • Review logistics field support requirements and recommend solutions as required
 Additional responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical direction to an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Participate as a team leader for multiple IPTs on site surveys and site readiness reviews for both international and US Service bases and ships
  • Review/evaluate blueprints and other technical facility diagrams for compliance with F-35 requirements
  • Identify facility requirements and infrastructure solutions to support logistics and/or aircraft maintenance concepts of operation
  • Determine release of technical information within International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Technology Assistance Agreements (TAA)
  • Author technical documents to include but not limited to: Site visit reports and Facility Requirements Document (FRD) updates
  • Initiate, review, status and close action items (AI) and requests for information (RFI) as appropriate
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Site Surveys and Site-Specific Action Plans for both US Service and International Customers

Required Skills and Education

  • BS in a related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience – or – 10+ years of fighter aircraft maintenance experience
  • Experience with military aircraft maintenance and sustainment operations
  • Experience standing up maintenance and logistics organizations
  • Experience identifying facility requirements and sustainment solutions
  • Experience leading and/or providing technical direction to all levels of personnel in diverse IPTs
  • Proven ability to communicate with internal and external senior leadership
  • Must possess excellent technical writing skills and be proficient in MS Office Suite

Preferred Skills and Education

  • BS/MS in an aviation or logistics related discipline with 10+ years of previous fighter aircraft maintenance and sustainment experience
  • Previous hands-on maintenance experience with the F-35 aircraft
  • Previous experience with the F-35 Site Activation & Site Readiness process
  • Previous experience with International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Technology Assistance Agreements (TAA)
  • Active security clearance preferred
