Job Title: Eye Specialist (Ophthalmology RN)
Location: 810 West Hwy 71, Marble Falls, TX
Pay Rate: $60 – $65 per hour
Job Type: Temp to Perm
Travel Required: Yes
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Work Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Every Other Weekend Required
Shift: Day (AM)
On-Call: Possible on-call for scheduled shifts

JOB SUMMARY
The Eye Specialist (Ophthalmology RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing evaluation, treatment, and surgical procedures related to eye health. This role supports ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care across outpatient clinics, procedural units, and surgical settings.
The Eye Specialist assesses visual health concerns, prepares patients for ophthalmic procedures, assists with treatments, and monitors recovery while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the care continuum.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care

Perform focused ophthalmic assessments, including vision changes, eye pain, and post-procedure status

Prepare and assist patients for eye examinations, laser procedures, and surgeries

Administer ophthalmic medications, including eye drops and injections as ordered

Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively for complications related to eye procedures

Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards specific to ophthalmology
Patient Education

Educate patients and families on eye conditions, procedures, and treatment plans

Provide clear instructions on post-operative eye care, medications, and follow-up visits

Promote eye health, vision safety, and disease prevention
Documentation & Compliance

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EPIC
-
Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements

Protect patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Collaboration
-
Work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and surgical teams

Coordinate patient flow, diagnostics, procedures, and discharge planning
-
Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient needs and staff competencies
Quality & Professional Practice

Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to ophthalmic care

Maintain current knowledge of ophthalmology best practices and procedures
