Position Description:

  • Exterior Structural CAE Engineer General Purpose Of Position On a typical day, but not limited to, the CAE Structural Engineer performs finite element-based studies to virtually validate vehicle structure parts (component and sub-system level) supporting the Engineering team with design guidance and performance prediction.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads the System Design Specification analysis, design development and results documentation of exterior systems components.
  • Ability to create and modify finite element models that predicts vehicle structure performance by following the corporate requirements and procedures.
  • Conduct CAE model audits. Help to develop new analytical capabilities for a better prediction and physical tests.
  • Participates in global forums and meetings to share technical information about new procedures and new ways of simulation.
  • Coordination with other areas such as: Design and Release Engineers, CAE teams, Digital Innovation, Suppliers, Vehicle Engineering and Manufacturing, to develop integral solutions using math virtual simulations.
  • Produces and evaluates solutions to improve the quality and cost of the designs, based on specialized engineering knowledge. Interpret results from CAE and physical tests for the development of feasible counter measures to meet systems and component level requirements.
  • Correlate CAE models with physical tests.
Requirements:

  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree
  • MS and Ph. D. degree preferred. DFSS Green Belt (or Equivalent certification in statistical and optimization tools and techniques) preferred.
  • Hyper mesh, CAD/Meshing tools
  • Good understanding of materials properties.
  • Knowledge of FEA theory and Structural CAE, Durability and/or Fatigue CAE Analysis. Knowledge of both Linear Static and Non-Linear Dynamic analyses, including impact FE analyses.
  • Knowledge in meshing & postprocessing software like ANSA, Hyper Mesh, HyperView and Meta Post.
  • Program is desirable.
  • +5 year Experience with Abaqus, NCODE, Nastran and/or other commercially available FEA program for structural and fatigue analyses are desirable.
  • Knowledge of automotive product development processes and validation (preferably Client GPDS).
  • Knowledge of welds and fatigue theory.
  • Knowledge of statistical and optimization tools / techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to devise, create, or adapt novel analysis methods.
  • Evidence of technical excellence as indicated by technical presentations and reports.
  • Familiarity with Team Center and Catia.
  • 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening) Strong analytical and communication skills Programming skills, Python, Mathlab, C, CC++, or other
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Science Materials are desirable) or related disciplines with coursework in Finite Element Methods.
