Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Expense Reconciliation & Audit Specialist to support a high-volume expense cleanup and reconciliation initiative. This is a hands-on role focused on reviewing, researching, documenting, and resolving outstanding employee expense transactions within Emburse/Certify.
The ideal candidate has direct, recent experience using Emburse/Certify, thrives in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment, and enjoys detailed, process-driven work. This role is well-suited for someone who takes satisfaction in working through large backlogs, performing investigative research, matching receipts, validating documentation, and ensuring every transaction is accurately documented and reconciled.
This individual must be a self-starter who can quickly assess priorities, work independently, and contribute with minimal onboarding or supervision. The successful contractor will leverage their prior experience to make an immediate impact and drive meaningful progress against a significant backlog of expense-related transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, research, and reconcile high-volume corporate card transactions.
  • Locate, validate, and match receipts to outstanding expenses.
  • Audit expense submissions for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports within Emburse/Certify.
  • Reconcile FY26 expenses and identify outstanding items requiring resolution.
  • Investigate missing receipts, incomplete documentation, and coding discrepancies.
  • Document exceptions, findings, and transactions requiring additional business or Finance review and decision-making.
  • Maintain detailed records and audit trails for all reconciliation activities.
  • Work independently to reduce and eliminate assigned transaction backlogs.
  • Collaborate with Finance and business stakeholders as needed to resolve complex issues.
  • Handle confidential financial and employee information with discretion and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
  • Direct hands-on experience with Emburse/Certify is required.
  • Experience reconciling high-volume corporate card expenses.
  • Strong receipt-matching, expense auditing, research, and documentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proven track record of managing priorities and delivering results in a high-volume environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience handling confidential financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Egencia travel and expense systems.
  • Background supporting Finance, Accounting, Accounts Payable, or Expense Management teams.
  • Experience managing large reconciliation, cleanup, or audit projects.
  • Experience working through significant transaction backlogs under tight deadlines.
Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for someone who:
  • Has extensive experience working in Emburse/Certify and can become productive immediately.
  • Is a true self-starter who takes ownership of assigned work and drives tasks to completion.
  • Can work independently and make sound decisions based on prior experience without requiring constant guidance.
  • Enjoys detail-oriented, repetitive, and process-driven work.
  • Takes pride in researching and resolving discrepancies and tracking down missing information.
  • Is comfortable working through large volumes of transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Thrives in an environment focused on organization, documentation, and continuous progress.
  • Enjoys rolling up their sleeves and tackling administrative, investigative, and reconciliation-focused work.
  • Finds satisfaction in methodically working through a backlog and bringing order to complex financial records.
Success in This Role
Within the first few weeks, this contractor will be expected to quickly ramp up, independently manage assigned work, and make measurable progress against the expense reconciliation backlog. Success will be demonstrated through accurate transaction research, timely reconciliation of outstanding expenses, thorough documentation of findings, and the ability to drive work forward with minimal oversight.
